Do you think everything happens for a reason, or do you think its just random?

I know what I think, But im interested to hear what everyone else thinks 🙂

I don't believe in fate. I believe in luck, chance, and being at the right/wrong place at the right/wrong time.

The emotional and psychological changes we make in life are a direct result of what we learn or experience during its course.

The bottom line is that we subconciously adjust to our new surroundings in a complex way. The Moon and the stars don't dictate our lives...Unless you want to incorporate electromagnetism and its effects on brainwaves into the equation.

Ukelele gifthorse clambake!

That would be my response if everything's random. 🙂

Is "a reason" in your query causal, metaphysical, or what?

I think it's both. Yes some things are meant to be and some aren't, but sometimes it's just luck or chance or whatever, as I have from experience due to my legendarily bad luck. XD

I believe in determinism. Everything has a scientific reason for occurring. The complexity of this reason has often been perceived as fate; however, this is merely a consequence of the limits of human perception.

Every action we make can be tied to neurochemical reactions which are influenced by external stimuli.

Every action that occurs in the world can be tied to a physical reaction.

Even our natures as people can be tied to past experiences, genetic variables, and/or instinctual responses.

Of course, what makes our lives enjoyable is often the mystique of fate. When things are complex and we use our imaginations to come up with simpler explanations for events, we often feel a little less disconnected with life itself.

Can you clarify?

Do you mean reason as in why things happen? As in, something bad happened, it must be for a "reason"? IE, I lost my job, there must be a better job waiting for me.

Or are you talking about cause/effect? As in, the reason I lost my job is because I was a poor employee? Or because my company could not sustain the current workforce in this economy.

Random chance all the way. I just don't think life is that special to have some sort of destiny or there being a reason for everything.

As one man breathes in, another breathes out, and the sun that shines upon one's enemy shines upon him as well.

The wind from a butterfly's wings may just be enough to create the hurricane a world away.

In this way, all men and all things are connected, as are their actions.

The wise Rectangular shape has spoken.
That is all.

Its deliberatly vague because the saying is vague.

I hear so often the thrase "everything happens for a reason"

And I think..really? everything? And I wonder if these people have ever stopped to consider what they really mean when they say that, and if they thought about it, would they really believe it.

Its in the saying, "everything" both of the posibilities you gave me and more I guess, everything is a powerful word and thats what im questioning I guess.

This. :bubble2:

I think that people often use that expression for lack of anything better to say. I'm not fatalistic; I think a lot of things are just random. It would be comforting to imagine that things work out as they should based on some glorious plan, but I also think it's naive and escapist.

Thats almost word for word, what I think. 🙂

Except I would replace "comforting" with "discomforting"

I tend to say this alot. And I do believe things happen for a reason. Whether you learn from the experience or not is up to you.

That's pretty much what I said in a nutshell...But not as smarterer.:roflmao:
