I recently saw this movie and I have to say I was very pleased. Some of the movie reviews said it was Reese Witherspoon's greatest performance since "Walk the Line" which I felt was going to be hard to compare since she was phenomenal in that film. I was also pleased to see anything with Rob Pattinson in it as well
I won't give any spoilers away. But the film captured the era of the Great Depression/ Early 1930s/ Prohibition era beautifully. The old fashioned circus, animals, and circus acts were breathtaking.
I fully recommend seeing this film. It is definitely not a chick flick. It is a good movie that anyone could enjoy!
