I should have put this into some kind of context. Normally our number of guests ranges from 400-600, with about the same number of registered members.

12,000 is an outrageously large number for us.

Maybe there was some dissertation or discussion in which people were summoned to bring up the forum?

The graphs look like the main data being shown is the accesses. So at some point, somebody showed someone else that "this is an actual thing"....and then they might have just dismissed this as a porn site, judging from all the media ads.
