Okay!!! It is that time of the year again. The NFL is back in action. We have our usual prognosticators out here who think they know the sport. Then there are others that actually know the sport. This is my fourth year running the pool.
Here are the rules:
I will set out points spreads which I will get from some different sources. New York Daily News or The USA Today or I will get it from the Chicago Tribune. It depends on what I am doing at that time.
Once I post the points spreads those are the spreads. You can't change the point spreads.
All games are picked based on point spreads. This means if you want to play you can't say 'well I don't use point spreads.' Because my response will be I don't use Viagra either but I must endure their commercials during football games. So deal with it or don't play.
Point spreads work like this:
Let's say the Detroit Lions are playing the Dallas Cowboys in Dallas. I will list the game like this:
Detroit Lions +10 1/2 @ Dallas Cowboys
What does this mean?
Detroit is a 10 1/2 point Underdog at Dallas. If you pick Dallas they MUST win the game by 11 points. If Dallas wins the game 31-21 and you picked Dallas you lost that game.
The plus/minus:
If you see like example above + 10 1/2 that is an underdog team. If you see a game where it is -6 1/2 then they are the favorite. Remember the favored team MUST cover the spread to notch a win.

You must pick at least 12 of the 16 games played each week to qualify. That is 75% of the weekly games you must play. I would prefer you play them all but you DO NOT have to.
All games are listed Eastern Daylight Time.
Should you spot a mistake ( or what you think might be a mistake ) bring it to my attention. I am human and am capable of making mistakes ( I know that is hard to believe ). But I have made some mistakes along the way.
