I've gone back to the drawing board a little, started to over analyze almost every aspect of these games...

In fact, my 'analysis' leaves to believe only 4 teams will cover no matter what.

In any event, I'm curious to see the results of this week and continually erratic season.

Baltimore Ravens -7 (Stats give ChOakland the edge... common sense says Ravens smash 'C-Bass', JaMarcus and Run DMC.)

San Diego Chargers -3 (This game/spread is officially a crapshoot)

New York Jets -13 (No Croyle or LJ for KC... not that it would help)

Buffalo Bills -1 1/2 (Bills should win, spreads too small NOT to take em.)

Tampa Bay Buccaneers +2 1/2 (Did you SEE the Cowboys vs. the Rams?!)

Atlanta Falcons +9 (The dirty birds are frisky. I'm drinking their cool aid this week.)

New England Patriots -7 (As good as Rams have been for 2 weeks, they're still -82 NET points)

Carolina Panthers -4 (I'm banking the Cards can't travel to the East Coast)

Washington Redskins -7 1/2 (The kitties are losing by an average of 15 pts per game)

Cincinnati Bengals +9 1/2 (Houston has not covered this year. Let me repeat that: They HAVE NOT COVERED all year. And they were up 21 on the Kitties last week before blowing it. Until they cover, I refuse to pick them.)

Cleveland Browns +7 (The Jags average 20 pts on O and let up 21 on D. They've won by margins of 3, 3 & 7. They're 1-2 at home and 0-3 ATS at home. They're 1-3 when favored and haven't covered a spread when favored...)

Pittsburgh Steelers -3 (I'm not going to lie, this is a homer pick. Stats say G-Men cover.)

San Francisco 49ers -5 (Seahawks without Hasselbeck are a HS football Offense; Niners have new coach... of course J.T. is still their QB...)

Indianapolis Colts +4 (I have no reason to pick the Colts. That's why I am.)

I'd like to know how I made .500 last week. But I think we all agree that Dan Orlovsky running out of his own end zone by 6 feet was so shocking that even the referee calling the play for a safety had his eyes bulging out!

Sunday, October 26th,2008

Oakland Raiders +7 @ Baltimore Ravens 1:00pm - The Jets were surprised. Baltimore won't be. Plus the Raiders are on the east coast. (See previous discussion on east coast & west coast trips this year.)

San Diego Chargers -3 versus New Orleans Saints @ London, England 1:00pm - The Saints I believe are slightly better, & this is an easy gift since they're getting points.

Kansas City Chiefs +13 @ New York Jets 1:00pm - If the Jets don't cover, I don't think they will make the playoffs. But you can't seriously expect a pedestrian offense led by Tyler Thigpen to win, can you? The only quarterback who is worse is that guy from MoTown who ran out out of his own endzone!

Buffalo Bills -1 1/2 @ Miami Dolphins 1:00pm - Trent Edwards can throw consistently downfield. You can't say that about Ronnie Brown or Chad Pennington.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers +2 1/2 @ Dallas Cowboys 1:00pm - The Panic button has already been pressed in Big D. Paging Tony Romo, Paging WR Roy E. Williams, Paging Cowboys Defense.

Atlanta Falcons +9 @ Philadelphia Eagles 1:00pm - They're not that much better than the Falcons, & The Eagles won't have an easy time trying to cover the spread. This is even more likely to be an upset if Westbrook is not playing.

St.Louis Rams +7 @ New England Patriots 1:00pm - Now that St. Louis is playing like a team, I can confidently say that they are the better team, unless you believe in your true heart of hearts that Matt Cassel is better than Marc Bulger. (I don't think so.) Another free gift.

Arizona Cardinals +4 @ Carolina Panthers 1:00pm - The Cardiac Kids are facing...the Cardinals. They may be better this year, but I predict stinker here.

Washington Redskins -7 1/2 @ Detroit Lions 1:00pm - Just a hunch, but I believe Washington won't fall behind early since Detroit has no competent quarterback.

Cincinnati Bengals +9 1/2 @ Houston Texans 4:05pm - Only because Houston isn't that much better.

Cleveland Browns +7 @ Jacksonville Jaguars 4:05pm - But Jacksonville is that much better.

New York Giants +3 @ Pittsburgh Steelers 4:15pm - On a hunch, I think Eli is slightly better than Big Ben. These are the only two quarterbacks drafted in the same year, first round, that have won superbowl titles. (Interesting note from Mike & Mike in the Morning: Only two other pairs of quarterbacks drafted in the same year have won superbowl titles. Joe Montana is one of the 4, but not John Elway.)

Seattle Seahawks +5 @ San Francisco 49ers 4:15pm - Snooze TV, I'll go with division rules since I can't think of anything else.

Monday, October 27th, 2008

Indianapolis Colts +4 @ Tennessee Titans 8:35pm - Peyton is not the best Manning this year - he's looked kind of average.

Wow.

Did anybody else do as bad as me this week?

It was brutal with a capital B.

I can't believe the Falcons blew their cover at the last moment. The Steelers had it, the Bucs blew it and Favre could NOT have played worse. And don't get me started on the Hawks and Texans.

My ass feels sore after this terrible week. I've been straight up violated.

This was the weirdest week yet and it continues to be a year of parody. Suffice to say, I'm still in shock.

Right now, it looks like a Giants/Tennessee superbowl. not many good consistant teams in the NFL this year. if Brady wasnt hurt, the superbowl would be a cake walk this year. :wavingguy

Yeah, I think you're right about that.

As it is, the Pats are @ IND, then home for the Bills then Favre's team.

Should be an interesting three weeks for the Pats. Test time.

I just hope I can pick the spreads better [than my awful 3-8-2 picks this week]... even .500 is OK with me.
