what a great time to be a true Mavs fan

I have been a crazy Mavs fan since the team came into the league in 1980 . Stuck with them through all the lean years in the beginning and pre-Cuban years of the 90's .

This year had a different feel as a Mavs fan even though the '' experts '' thought Portland would boot them in 1st rd . In the mavs four overall series Mavs never caught a break in playing a lesser team like Heat got in 76ers .

Cuban & Donnie Nelson made the move of the year in getting Chandler and trading for Peja when Caron went down for the year .



Mavs highlights for me as Dallas fan

1. Sweeping the then champion Lakers . Stopped the possible 3-peat , showed Kobe is no longer the king of the hill , and set Phil Jackson packing to Montana. That in itself was sweet sweet stuff so we longer had to hear how great the LAKERS WERE . ( just having a little fun , you would have done the same to me )

2. Surviving the series with a up & coming Thunder team that in a year or two will definately be the class of the western conference no if & or buts about it .

3. Knocking off the bought superteam that thought they were entitled to a championship just because ...
LeBron and even Wades sense of entitlement was alarming . With about four minutes left to go in game six they just flatout gave up .

4. Becoming the 2011 World Champions
Seeing classy selfless guys like Dirk , Kidd , Terry , the Matrix & Peja finally get what they worked so hard for was the best thing of all . Dirk finally has what he needs to be recognized as one off the true all-time greats . He outplayed both James & Wade to get it done .

As an original Mavs fan couldn't be more proud and happy!!!!!

If you stuck with them through the mid '90s, then you deserve more than a medal. You deserve the proceeds of a winning Power Ball ticket.

I love it. Cuban's one of my favorite owners. The team worked so hard, and executed so well-it's THAT that separates them from the shit talkers and other losers.

Congratulations Flock on a well deserved Championship. The entire country became Dallas fans during this series. It's great to see class and teamwork beat the talanted arrogance of Miami. That Maverick 15 point 4th quarter comeback was one of the best in NBA finals history.

I was a pretty harsh critic of Dirk the year he won the League MVP, I felt he faded away in the playoffs that year. He finally showed all of the talent he is capable of, and I still don't think Dallas will get all the credit they truly deserve for taking down a great Miami team. Miami would have beat any other team in the finals, but Dirk and Co. stepping up and not being intimidated actually frustrated Wade and LeBron, and got into their heads.

Long term fans like you should be applauded. The one benefit of my lakers losing the title is that some of the pompous fair weather limosine laker fans have abandoned the team, so I can finally find a decent affordable seat to a game next season.

And I agree....we ALL better watch out for the Thunder. All those kids need is a little more experience, and they will be a force in the league for years.

Yeah, go Mavs! I talked to dozens of people during these finals and not a single one was rooting for Miami. I always liked Cuban's firey attitude. They deserve this championship.

Being a Knick fan, I was rooting hard for the heat to lose, they did and I couldn't be more pumped up

I think we all agree that it seems like everyone is happy the Mavs won. The only people I knew rooting for the Heat were Miami fans and Lebron fans. It does make you wonder though...

Would most people still root against the Heat if Lebron was still in Cleveland? Probably not...

The Mavs worked their asses off for this title. Congrats to them. They battled back in every game and showed a champion's heart.

Enjoy every moment of it, because sooner or later, the Lakers will be crowned champs again....

Mavs might have one more run in them with current roster . Problem is they have six free agents and won't be able to resign them all . plus they are an older team and a lockout certainly wouldn't help .

They are getting old fast , they have no pointguard , no realiable bench other than Odom , A promising center who has already proven he can't stay healthy and a declining superstar who is a glorified jumpshooter

hey dingdong why wouldn't their be doubts . They got swept by a team that wasn't supposed to win the 1st rd .

I already have admitted the Mavs are old , this team isn't built for a 3 or 4 year run . By the way we got our championship at your teams expense . Did I mention My Mavs Swept your Lakers ??

But try to look at your team objectively

Kobe is an aging player not at the top of his game anymore . He can't be expected to carry his team at this point of his illustrius career .

Bynum unfortunately may be the next Bill Walton

You got no bench except for Odom and he will be 32 just after the start of the season .

You have no point guard at all and Gasol is has a confidence issue plus a declining fast Artest

I don`t think free agency is going to bring any major players this summer . You can only hope you lure Howard from orlando and paul from New Orleans

Plus you have LeBrons old coach ( how ironic is that ) who has a team full of triangle players and doesn't run that offense .

You can only hope to follow the Heat blueprint in acquiring superstars .
