I dont have any buddies here (anymore anyway), nor do I post in the discussion sections too often (90% of the time folks dont like what I gotta say when I do lol). But I HAVE to comment on this post!

This is typical/normal of the internet, and why before I even become buddies with, or even do business with anyone ive come into contact with via the net, I've got to do a hell of alot more than just type to them.

I must interact with them with voice to voice. Hear their emotions, gender, etc.

Wether it be telephone, or some other sort of voice communication..it has to be done for me to know you are who you say you are. I trust NO ONE on the net via typing/words.


There's no reason to take any of this personal for those that did, or have loss of sleep over it. This is what alot do out here in cyberland.

And one other thing, im doubtful there was even any kind of term paper or experiement going on (other than POSSIBLY for personal entertainment/curiosity).

It's most likely this "Matt" is just a lonely and bored individual, maybe even mentally unstable. And this is his/her way to ease the pain (like most that pull this kinda stuff out here)

The other theory..multiple personality disorder (schitzo). Maybe there really is a whatever the female persona was of this person, and there's also a Matt..and they're one in the same person. But we'll never know if they're male or female by nature, and which is the transformation when it happens.

How's that for a term paper LOL

Was never around when you were, but a couple bits of the post stood out...

I joined the TMF as a sort of test. It started as an experiment actually for a paper I was going to write for a psychology class.
I have since then scrapped my notes and have chosen a different topic.

Even back in my psychology AS level stuff, I'd have got bollocked for doing that.

There's something in psychology, more than most other sciences, known as "ethics." Consent, informed consent, MUST be got before an experiment. In some, yes, it's impossible - like the Milgram experiment,and to a certain extent this one - but that doesn't mean that alternate methods of exploring the topic can't be considered. I can't immediately think of a way of doing so for this, but then again, I've neither done psychology for over two years nor have devoted any thought to it at all.

You've pretty much made a textbook case of "why informed consent is a must." Look at the thread. Look at the amount of people who're pissed off.

The people I’ve met here through Jess are some of the friendliest, most sincere people I’ve ever met anywhere. And it truly irks me knowing that this information may upset some of you. For that is not my intent in writing this.

Have some answers. You don't have permission to use them, but for some reason I highly doubt that will stop you. I just feel like being big and clever behind my protective keyboard and computer screen.

- I see it as normal, but also incredibly creepy and weird. However, some men do subscribe to the (oft misguided) notion that any females found on sites like this are after nothing but meaningless sex (or similar.)

- From looking at your username, I assumed you were male. It is not new knowledge. It's a fairly blatant giveaway when someone calls themselves something like "TummyTickleGirl."

- I couldn't give a crap whether you joined as yourself. Then again, I'm not particularly active, nor did I know your false ID.

- Why bother keeping this account around? There's no real benefit.

Again, you do not have permission to use any answers or data gained from my person or account in any part of your study. Whether this'll stop you, I don't know, because to me you already seem to be being fairly dodgy about this, but hey.

Perry, honestly, this person isn't worth losing eight seconds of sleep over. Not worth the expense of energy, or adrenoline, or intellectual exercise. I didn't realize it was so old

And since I looked and the post said it was from April, I'm guessing what someone else mentioned is true. That even though he said that he's sorry and decided to pick another topic, he didn't. He used this thread to get more to write about. Since I believe he is doing this for a class and semesters usually end in May or June. This is probably a paper due like at the end of that semester so he was posting it in April so he could get more info to write about his paper that was due in may.
