What are gatherings like?

At our gatherings out here in the San Jose area everyone arrives and for the first hour or two it's lots of socializing. Everyone gets to meet each other, sometimes we play pool (If we're at this one particular guy's beautiful home). There's always lots of food and munchies around. Then at some point during the evening we decide it's time to play.
Generally during set-up time (that time when we're putting together the bench or setting up the stocks or laying out the ropes and such on my bed) we discuss some rules of play. There are definite things we will NOT do and there are particular things that specific "lees" don't want done. For example, the side of my knees are not ticklish. If you grab the sides of my knees it's incredibly painful and I can get a queezy tummy from it. So we go over the specifics for each "lee". Then the fun beings.
Based on the agreement with the "lee" there will be 1 or could be more "lers" tickling them. It's really up to the "lee". We can have a fun, light scene or get into the heavier torture scene and everywhere in between. It's all based on what the "lee" desires and what the "ler/lers" desire as well. There's always a happy medium there somewhere.
The play goes on for whatever amount of time the "ler" can take or is willing to participate. Seems my time slot is the Metric Hour (100 minutes). After that my voice is gone and I'm just exhausted but happy. Some of the "lees" go for 2-2 1/2 hours and we've had them go well past 6 hours as well.
At some point late into the evening (or morning in most cases) we all end up sitting around relaxing in the living room. The Lees get special treatment. We call it After Care. The "lers" are always VERY good at making sure the "lees" are well taken care of and show their appreciation with massages, foot rubs, and maybe some cuddling. The whole group seems to just focus on the "lees" and talking about the highlights of the evening.
And eventually the evening ends. Some folks head home. Others might end up staying the night and leaving the next day because they have long drives home and everyone is tired.
That's about it.

...that was very informative and sounds like fun! Your decription makes me feel more comfortable about how they are run. It's nice to know that the people involved are mature and look out for the 'lee' and each other.

We actually have a few folks who have come to our gatherings from Arizona. Hope you can come up for one of them sometime.
They really are fun and it's become one big happy family. We not only see each other at the gatherings but we do other stuff together outside of this community. We go to dinner together. A few have come to the races and have even worked the races with us at the motorcycle races and as part of the pit crew on my son's car. (And he took the championship this year... YAHOO!). Several of us travel to other gatherings across the state as well as overseas. And folks we've met there have come out here. It's like a HUGE network of friends spread World Wide.
So.. Just get to a gathering somehow, somewhere. There is a section here in TMF that lists the upcoming gatherings. You'll walk in VERY scared at first but you'll quickly find that you're surrounded by friends who all felt the same way you did the first time. You'll walk out feeling refreshed knowing there are AWESOME folks in this community who play at all levels. You'll end up with lots of friends who will be around for many years to come.
And as DVNC would say... It's all about the Love! And it truly is.

Our regular monthly gatherings vary significantly from about 12 to 20 people I believe. DVNC could give you a better number.
Depending on where we're having the party it can be 1 or up to 3 people as "lees" at one time. If the party is at my house we can accomodate 3 at a time with one on the bed, one on the bench and one in the stocks. It really depends on where we're having the party and what equipment they have or what equipment people have brought along.
And People per "lee" varies as well. Some "lees" only want 1 person while some others are willing to be gang tickled. We accomodate all.

The Hyenas Club Gatherings I have held have been nothing short of a blast and a whole lot of fun!!!!
Being with others who share this fantastic passtime and actually DOING it all day and night is sheer pleasure menatlly and physically.
Not to mention meeting people who are probably the best of the best.
Thoughtful, kind and considerate people with heart soul(sole) and class.
I am/was honored to know them all and proud to call each of them friends.
I hope to meet more of you/them.

Lowest attendance was 5, once. Usual is 10. Max was 23, I believe. Most events have 8-12 people.
Most have at least 2 female and 1 male 'lee. Most male 'lees don't volunteer to be tickled.
There's a varience in the gender ratio between 1:1 and 4:1 (men:women). There've been events with 3:4, once. There've been multiple events at 1:1. At 4:1, everyone plays that wants to play. It's all good.
Arizona has enough people to have an event. All I need is a home in which to host it, and I'll arrange the whole thing. Done so in Redding, Las Vegas, the Silicon Valley, and Oregon. Arizona is just another location, brother. That's true for any state.

Yep.
When you show, can we videotape you?
Did you flinch? Most do. That's why you don't see folks from the events in videotapes being distributed. When there's taping, it's by request, announced before the scene starts, and we can edit the tape to remove faces from it. That's easy enough for me, and avoids tensions. It's a request deal, and one that needs to be done before the event, otherwise I don't tend to bring the camera and tripod.

You're indeed welcome. Drop a line when you find an Arizona location. There are bodies enough in that area, and that would fly out, to warrant it. Besides, they're fun. Picture a house party that never gets dumb and drunken, 'cause everyone's focused on tickling. Who wants to forget a detail? 😉
