my husband used to play in a band..and sometimes i would go with him..sometimes i would stay at home though and watch MTV's Rockin Eve..back when it was live..i never cared much for going with him, as i found it depressing to watch people believe they had to drink a ton of alcohol to have a good time..and it was soo smoky..so that's what i used to do..

Now we stay at home..and i'm usually in bed way before midnight...to me it's just another night...what do you all do? and that's not you ' ll as in southern vernacular...lol....

o a funny story sort of..every New Year's Day my dad would be sick in bed..mom said he had the flu...i thought how strange that he would get the flu like clockwork every New Year's Day..and we had to be quiet..which wasn't fun...later of course i learned he always partied too much the night before..and he knew what would happen as a result..but never failed to do it yet again the next year...ah Dad...

Eh, I'm not a heavy drinker. We usually get a bunch of old friends together including a pal of mine named Chris we only get to see twice a year maybe and we act like absolute juvenile fools and have a lot of fun with things like Rock Band and the like. It'll be a day early this year, though, due to timing issues so I might be celebrating the new year before the new year. Maybe I'll find someone to tickle until 2009 the night of, eh?

My friends are having a party at their house, and I've been asked to make some stromboli. they only live about 15 minutes from me, so it will be a quick drive there and home.

I'll probably bring some "Mike's hard Lime" to drink too.

mm Crushertitan and she will be such a lucky person who might get tickled by you all night long...well into 2010 in fact..hehe..

This New Years' Eve, I think I'll just stay home and watch Guy Lombardo on TV and ... wait a minute ... oh, that's right ...

My New Years plans involve profuse drinking. I'm gonna be smashed as always! 😀

Well, don't drink because I'm trying to wait until I am 21 like the law says I should and my mom would prefer I never drank because she is worried I will because she did.I feel as though I am missing out when my friends drink though so it is hard but anyway I will probably stay home and pop fire works.

Marie, I'd say you are missing out. I think you need a drink more than most people around here. 😉

I bet I am missing out but what do I do just not wait? That would be against the law unless my mom bought it,which she would but she would be worried that I would become an alcoholic

Law, schmaw. I had my first drink at 18, and that was way later than a lot of people I knew in high school.

Not really. Teenagers have been doing stuff behind their parents' backs since there were teenagers and parents. Our bodies become mature far sooner than people will tell you, and so does our desire to experience life. Don't let rules keep you from finding out what life's all about.

QueenBeeBeeMari, the only thing you need to do is do what is comfortable for you.

I didn't drink until I was a legal adult (21) and I didn't have sex until I was ready for it.

you'll know when the time is right.

I had my first drink at a Christmas party which my employer was throwing. Some of my co-workers bought me a multiple-shot cocktail, hoping to get me drunk and stupid. Their hopes were dashed when I ended up nursing (and also not finishing) the drink.

As for first-time sex, I wasn't quite ready for it when it happened, though my partner certainly was (bless her, wherever she might be!)!

I shall be at home doing nothing apart from playing with my little boy. I don't celebrate xmas and the new year, as we follow the Celtic calendar so our New Year celebrations were around Hallowe'en and our xmas is celebrated at the Winter Solstice. Of course the majority of my friends will be celebrating, so I'll probably end up babysitting for them.

QueenBee hon..you will know when both are right for you...you can have fun without drinking..and as for the sex..well i'm not ashamed to say i was a virgin when i got married..so was david..different strokes folks...what is right for one person is not right for another..my niece has a one year old, unplanned pregnancy...not married..had to change her college major as a result..of course that baby is absolutely adorable, however it has definitely changed her life..

anyhoo...we bought a fairly expensive bottle of champagne..and shall sip it as we watch The Dark Knight..on pay per view...and i'll still be in bed way before midnight..our town sets off fireworks over the river..but even that can't wake this female..who does not snore..grrrrrrrrrr i don't snore damn it..

I'll be over my buddies house with a bunch of people we know ... getting a little 'loose'. After midnight - the drunkest ...er .. loosest amongst us run around outside in the snow barefoot. It's a case of finding the stupidest thing we can think to do and that seemed to be it. So now it's a tradition.

Not missing out on anything, from my point of view. You can be relaxed even when sober, and you can have fun even when sober. Drinking just because it's cool or just to get drunk is pointless and lame to me. If you're really cool, you're cool in your own way.

I'll occasionally sip down a beer or two, but that's it. I tend to have way more fun when I'm sober than when I'm drunk. I don't need alcohol to approach a broad, I don't need alcohol to go and do something crazy or utterly stupid (like starting a pimpslap fight), nor do I need alcohol to overcome my fear of strangers (especially if they offer me a nice lollipop and fuck me in the ass later).

As for new year's eve... I'm organizing a small party at my place. Not a big gathering... around 12 people, all good friends. We're gonna party until we drop!

Going to see my brother and his family. They got a Wii, the new Guitar Hero, and lotsa food, so it shud be a hoot. 😀

Sitting at my house and eating the rest of the chocs I got for Christmas 😀

Unless you move house, change partners, change jobs, one year is similar to another it depends on whats happening and your age, we are past our best sell by date and tend to have a night in, our son comes over with his wife and they then go on to a club.i don't drink and the wife isn't fussed.we play chess but our son who is x box mad says we should look at that optionso i think we may do.

queen bee mari : please don't be led by others the grass always looks greener on the other side, take your time do things when your ready, and do things in moderation i don't smoke or drink but i used to,i miss it and it does give you pleasure, and it cn be hard to stop,i done it to excess use moderation and your ok. things are a lot different to when i was young but waiting for the right one has a lot of merit still, use your head and heart together don't be too casual don't feel pressured and don' be led, it will all happen soon enough, better get off the soap box before i fall sorry to ramble queen beeb mari. take care.

I'll be spending New Year's Eve trying to get over this flu that has left me enervated.

Why would they have a drinking law if they weren't concerned about something?

"[T]he age set by the legislation is basically arbitrary. The U.S. has the highest drinking age in the world (a title it shares with Indonesia, Mongolia, Palau). The vast majority of the rest of the world sets the minimum age at 17 or 16 or has no minimum age at all."
