I'll be spending New Year's Eve trying to get over this flu that has left me ennervated.

I know what you mean. This asthma I've got (plus whatever else is inside my chest) is forcing a serious rethinking of all my plans for this week.

As for our drinking age, Reagan raised the drinking age from 18 to 21 in the mid-1980's in order to score moral (read: political) points with Mothers Against Drunk Driving. As I recall, he signed the bill into law at a ceremony to which MADD members were invited. Some of you might remember the "sobriety" fad of that period. Some people I knew who were in Alcoholics Anonymous at the time found that phenomenon rather dismaying; they felt that the program which was helping them to live was being exploited for political and monetary gain.

I'm nursing a case of indigestion from the tuna salad with mango pickle sandwich I ate earlier this evening. Should've eased off on the spiciness, my poor tummy being still partly in shreds from what those awful, mean viruses did to it!

Actually, I did (and expected to have) a great time. I was just anticipating the old "what kind of fun can a bunch of Pentecostals have???" reaction from some as they read it.
