What are your predicted division finishes in baseball for 2005

I am actually moving on April 23rd to Michigan to be with Sadira. :redheart: But I will look the draft over and I will get back to you on the Draft. You might want to start a different thread for that though. But I will figure out who got what and how it all shook out. That is not a problem.

Have you heard from John (Wickerman) lately ticklingfeet4fu? he hasn't send me a private message or e-mailed me? in a few days at least!

Im here VC and TF but im not that well unfortunately. I had a private falling out with a well respected member of this site who I was really starting to fall for and it hurt me greatly. Thats why a havent been coming on so much. It hurts that this person wouldnt give me the Christian philosophy of a second chance to make up for past sins but in a way I cant blame the person. Well I cant get into specifics but thank you for your concern, its most appreciated. :dropatear

Speaking of which, how about those Jays? Three straight series victories, two against solid playoff contending teams. I know it's early, but the Jays just might make a respectable third, close behind either Boston or New York. Maybe even contend for the wild card, but with those teams purchasing power, I can't really see that being too serious.

Still, it's nice to see them succeeding, and bringing back more people to SkyDome (Sorry Ted, it is NOT the Rogers Centre. Thanks for coming out.)

I'd hate to see them leave Toronto.

Now the (C)Raptors, on the other hand, can go where they like...

Now that is very interesting. If I knew you enough to call you friend I might have fun with this. But I do want to see how the Jays develop as a team. I think I picked them to finish dead last if I am not mistaken. I know you are excited about the start but please keep in mind that the Milwaukee Brewers have a share of first place in the NL Central. By the way, I really hope that John Gibbons does well so I hope they continue to stay on a very good track.

It's ok man. I know what you mean and what you are talking about so i won't give out any details to any of the members here. But i just hope that you cheer up and move on with life (even though i'm sure and bet it's not that easy because of this) but if anybody can do it then you can.

stay safe! :bubble:

This is a decently talented team, but maybe I was aiming too high with the playoffs in mind. I'd be happy if they finished above last year. Still, 3rd place would be good.

And I too, hope they develop as a team. So far so good, but there's still over 150 games to play!

Well the Jays are playing very well so far (6-2) best in the league. Not that I expect that it will last but at the same time they're far ahead of where they were last year. I'd don't think they'll win the Div or anything but perhaps 4th or 3rd place. I'd be happy with that this year.

Well the Blue Jays are looking for a 7-2 record as they play Oakland. I hope they can give the East a run but I really doubt it. Unfortunately it is probably a 2 horse race.

I have little doubt that the AL East will be a 2-horse race, but I hope the Jays can at least make in interesting and make the big boys sweat a little.

Over the past 9 games, I have noticed their biggest weakness is an unreliable bullpen. This is going to cost them a number of games over the season, I am pretty confident in that.

But as I have said - I'm just glad the Jays are bringing baseball back to Toronto. As much as we claim to be a "world-class city" (which I don't think we are) .. we really suck for supporting sports teams not named the Maple Leafs.

I think the Boston Red Sux have already won the 2005 World Series in my opinion. I fucking hate them with a passion but what they did last year will be built on and make them invincible. That 0-3 deficit comeback against the greatest sports franchise in history, the NY Yankees can never be erased (unfortunately) and that World Series win last year will make them unbeatable this year. :disgust:

Wicker,

I'm not so sure of that - they lost 30 wins with the departure of two of their star pitchers, and that may be the difference in a short (5 or 7 game) series...

I don't know why I am so into baseball this year, usually I am completely indifferent. Must be the lack of hockey and something to cheer for.

I know how you feel Coke, im mainly a football fan but I live in the Bronx where baseball is a religion and the Yankees our deities. Its almost a requirement to love the Yankees and baseball here so I figured id give it a try. I quit watching baseball after the strike in 1994 but this year is my first year back and a lot of names and faces have changed. I have much to catch up on! Nice to meet you by the way. :Hyrdrogen

Hey there guys. How are you? I hope you are right about the Blue Jays and I really hope they and the other teams can make it interesting in the AL East. I really doubt it though. Wickerman, I am not convinced that the Yankees can't win it this year. They have good enough starting pitching and hitting. The question as with all 30 teams in Major League Baseball is there enough bullpen help. The bullpen let the Yankees down in games 4,5 and 7 against the Red Sox last year. You show me a team that has a good bullpen up and down and I will show you the 2005 World Champions. In the meantime the Jays lost to the A's 6-3 last night as the Yankees beat the Red Sox 5-2. Also in that division the Orioles beat the D'Rays 5-1. That does leave Toronto leading that division by 1.5 games over the Yankees. In the meantime, the Mets pitching staff shutout the Astros in a 1-0 win in 11 innings at Shea. The Nationals forged a 3 way tie for first by pounding the Braves 11-4 and the Marlins shutout the Phillies 4-0. Dodgers beat their hated rivals the Giants 4-1 to sweep them in a 2 game series and the Cubs split a doubleheader with the Padres. Padres took game 1 8-3 over Kerry Wood and in game 2 the Cubs behind Mark Prior beat the Padres by the same 8-3 score. If you ever have scores or highlights of your favorite team post it here. We can all learn about everyone's team here and get a taste and feel for your game and your action on the field. Let's see what your team is doing. CokeCan you can give us your highlights on your Jays and Wickerman your highlights on the Yankees. Milagros you can give us the Dodgers and K-Skate or Sexicana or any Red Sox fan you can give us the Red Sox scoop. Lets all do our bit to keep us ALL informed how everyone is doing. in the meantime, Let's Go Mets. :triangle:

Tonight the New York Mets defeated the Florida Marlins by the final score of 4-0. That makes 5 straight putting the Mets at 5-5 on the season. This is what the Mets staff did this week. Pedro Martinez a complete game in Atlanta as the Mets win for the first time in 2005. Tom Glavine pitches against the Astros on Monday and gives up 1 run in 6 innings. Mets win 8-4. On Wednesday, the Mets and Astros got together as the Mets staff shutout the Astros in 11 innings 1-0. On Thursday, Victor Zambrano held the Astros to 3 runs in 7 innings as the Mets beat Houston 4-3. Tonight Aaron Heilman pitched a 1 hit shutout as the Mets made 3 RBI by Mike Piazza hold up. Heilman's line 9IP 1Hit 0 Runs 3 BB and 7 K's. Only his 4th major league win against 11 loses. In other games, Pirates beat the Cubs 8-5, Atlanta crushed the Phillies 11-4, Astros pounded the Reds 11-2. In the AL, The mighty Yankees beaten by the Orioles 8-1 tonight as the Yankees have now have lost 6 of their last 8 games. When other scores come through I will report them in the morning. The final from Shea Stadium the Mets 4- the Marlins 0.

Congrats TF4U the Mets are good and the Yankees suck! You must be on cloud 9. I predict the Yankees will end up in last place because they will never get past their 2004 ALCS meltdown, the second biggest choke (or maybe the first) in sports history second only to that Houston Oilers/Buffalo Bills 1993 playoff game. Football anyone? :cry1:

I don't think it is that bad Wickerman. You have struggled but you guys are still the top team in the sport. I will say though with Pedro going tomorrow that we have a chance to be over .500 for the season. That is the good news. the bad news is that the Mets will still have to play 151 games after that. It is a better start than expected with this pitching staff hurt and the bullpen being what it is. I mean the Mets starters have given up 5 runs in 38 innings which is an ERA of 1.18 over the last 5 games. That is the best in baseball over that same stretch of games. That is winning baseball. Other scores Wickerman are the Red Sox pounded the D'Rays 10-0, Indians nip the Twins 3-2, the Royals came from 5-0 down to defeat the Tigers 6-5. The Cardinals shutout the Brew Crew 3-0. More on scores as they become finals.

You didn't stay up late enough to report:
Dodgers 4, SD 0, on a fine 3-hit shutout by Lowe. Only one opposing batter even reached second base. For the Dodgers, Kent and Bradley hit back-to-back homeruns. 😀 😀

Cardinals crush the Dodgers this afternoon 10-3. That really stinks. It was an awful game to watch.

I don't think the Mets will win the division (yet anyway) but I want to see them finish ahead of the Yankess recordwise. With all due respect to Yankee fans, George was pushing the panic button when they lost in 2001 to Arizona. He did this in the 80's and all it got him were stars (alot of them past their prime) year after year. There was no continuity therefore the players couldn't gel together as a team.

I know it's easy for me to say now, but I was one of the few baseball fans who would have opted to keep Tino Martinez when they went after Giambi. Tino gave you the whole package. I was sorry to see him go and it's nice to have him back. I was so adamant about that that I was going to say it on the air. I tried calling the FAN but didn't get on. Tino is the main reason the Yankees are turning it around.

I like the young talent on the Mets. David Wright is a bona fide third baseman who can provide some stability at a position that had the most turnover in their history. Reyes need to avoid the DL. I wished they signed Delgado to protect Beltran a little better in the line up.

BTW, the Mets and Yankees were idle tonight.

Giantfan I have called into WFAN many times. I love listening to sports talk because everyone has an opinion and they are allowed to express it. Huge series for the Mets as they come home to play the Cards this weekend. A very good series indeed. Over in the Bronx the Yankees are in Oakland to face the A's. They are actually starting Giambi (HUGE MISTAKE) tonight. Should be an interesting weekend of baseball. I look forward to it. Mets 9 games at home and the Yankees 9 games on the road with it finishing with both teams at Shea next weekend. :firedevil
