What happened to.......

.....Big Jims thread about the goods things in America? I cant seem to fnd it any where. I trawled all the way back, past a thread on face sitting, and no sign of it!

I have just watched a wonderfull concert on the "Performance channel" btw, why is the sound always so bad on this channel? you flick over to MTV and get Britney or Slipknot in glorious perfection. Why? when they are mostly about visuals, and posing and learing in to camera lenses? who cares about sound quality with these muppets?

Anyway....back to the point,my offering to the thread about what is good about America was a wonderfull performance by Chick Corea and Gary Burton from 1982. As good a reason as any I can think of for looving the U.S.

Any U.S. people who dont know who they are should hang their heads in shame!

.....for the input guys I appreciate it. Just to give you a little more background in to my reasons for watching that particular performance on TV.

As you may possibly recall, I have had two bouts of disastrous hand surgery, undertaken in a vain attempt to fight the effects of an incurable desease, which was threatening to end my career as a jazz piano player. Sadly, the surgery, rather than offering a solution,has ended my playing career very abruptly,and I will never play again.

Fortunately, I have a second string as a percussion player (timpani, drum kit, and a small amount of tuned percussion) so I have decided to make an attempt at a "come back" as a mallet man. So I was particularly intertested to look and listen to Gary Burton.

Having done so, I am now under no illusions regarding the task ahead of me!

Wasn't aware you were a jazz pianist, Red. Now I see where your appreciation of Bill Evans comes from.
