I read where the guy that won the Big Game lottery is going to give his tithe of the winnings, 10 percent, to three different pastors. In our denomination members are prohibted from gambling and that specifically includes lotteries. I am not one of the pastors to be offered this money, but even if I were, according to my denomination I would have to say "no thank you". I wonder how hard it would be to say no to 17 million dollars?
Also I was pretty upset over one quote from this winner. He thanked God for helping him pick the winning numbers. Then corrected himself and said he thanked God for getting the computer to give him the winning numbers. I guess the guy thought that the computer pick numbers were like "casting lots" in the Old Testament.
Anyway, what really upsets me is the unspoken message that since God was with him in this drawing then God wasn't with any of the losers in the drawing. Kind of bugs me when we Christians talk like this.
