What is the interest in Tickling Fiction?

It's a bit late here, so forgive the typos. This is something i;ve been interested in for a while now. Tickling fetish based fiction. What I mean about that is something different then normal tickling stories we find here, or most other places online. And for the record, I am not knocking the fiction found here. I myself love to post and read the items that pop up here.

What i'm asking is, do we have much interest in fiction that's a little different. The best example I can give, is some of the material you can find on Amazon, and some other book sellers. Books (almost always in the form of series) where you have an actual plot and prolonged story (I admit, they aren't Shakespeare, but they usually have something going for them). Something like a 200-300 page book/story where there is an actual plot (alien's attacking, guy get's sucked into a video game, spy story, etc) which only has 3-4 tickling scenes in the book, with the rest being devoted to plot and character development.

At any rate, any thoughts would be appreciated, as well as comments, questions, etc.

I've seen a lot of it over the years, either here or on other sites. I admit I was more interested in it 20 or 25 years ago, when the internet was still new, and all of a sudden it was available, whereas previous to that it was very hard to find. As for what's out there, I admit I don't find a lot of it very interesting, because it tends to be kind of cliched, a bit of "you've read one, you've read them all" kind of thing.

I still plan on writing some and posting them here on the TMF. I think the ones I imagine are a bit more intense than most of the ones I've seen, but then I don't know for sure, so it would be interesting to see what people think of them. I'm either real busy or lazy, but hopefully I'll get around posting them at some point. I should probably try and post a short one first and then take it from there.

I have always enjoyed Tickle fiction throughout life. I guess it goes along with my love for reading. I always read things. Whether it is books, magazines, internet surfing, cereal boxes, candy wrappers, TMF, I read a lot of stuff. I have a very strong imagination so being able to create scenes in my head by reading words is just something fun for me.

My style of writing stories has evolved over the years. I started with a tickle scene and then try to make a plot around it. Now, I write a STORY first, and include tickling in them. I want people to love the characters and feel their emotions. The tickling scenes enhance all of that. Just like a movie. You are watching a movie and enjoying the plot. Then there are "action" type scenes that makes the story more entertaining. That is my current style. Fall into my story world, then when you see a tickling scene, it makes it even better.

If I can draw you in with just writing words, to me that is very satisfying and fun. My stories now turned into novels. lol

So i think its a balance, if you have just one or two scenes in 300 page book it becomes almost "mainstream find" material. Like Game of Thrones but all the Starks are incredibly ticklish... I'd just seach for the two scenes and move on...

But the other side is a 100 word tickle scene with nothing there...

You and Prime usually do a good balance of why are we tickling this very ticklish person.

Think of another like spanking, if a story had a scene with a spanking scene is that a spanking fetish story or a novel with a spanking scene?

I think it's mostly about expectation management. When you click on a short story here labeled as a tickling story, I feel like a lot of people here on the TMF default to expecting the tickling scenes to take up a sizeable chunk of the runtime. That's how it's usually done and people get thrown off if you deviate too much from that. If I were to pick up a tickling novel knowing as I'm going in that the focus is on plot and story with fewer tickling scenes in between, I probably wouldn't take exception to it.

The core bit of a piece of fiction being a tickling story to me is that tickling plays a meaningful role on the characters and story. The tickling scenes need to in some way impact character development and how the story unfolds past being there for titillation purposes. There's a difference between "The Expanse but the scene where a spacer is tortured by being subjected to Earth gravity is replaced with tickling" which doesn't get acknowledged before or after and a story where a tickling session spurs character development and impacts relationships for everyone involved in some way. If it just so happens that there's more focus on the bits in between the tickling than on the action, then so be it.

At the end of the day you gotta write what you wanna write and let the audience judge on an individual basis. You're gonna get people who skip over all of the story sections to get to the tickling bits and others who'll complain that your 10,000 words of setup wasn't enough at the exact same time. They're mutually exclusive audiences, and as the author you end up needing to pick who you care about appealing to more.

Agreed. When I first found the TMF a number of years ago, the tickling stories section quickly became my absolute favorite. But after reading a number of tickling stories over the last 15+ years, it does give me that "been there, done that" kinda vibe, as in a lot of them are cliche. Especially the whole "knocked out, wakes up tied up" storyline. I immediately stop reading a story at that point unless im invested in the characters or the world (i.e. movie, video game, etc.) Still, I'll occasionally find a story and/or writer on here that surprises me with a story I re-read 2x - 3x. My favorite storylines are typically ones where people get stuck and someone stumbles upon them and has a mischievous idea.

Im actually not quite sure what youre asking. If its what im thinking, I'll say this. When im for tickling stories, im in the mood for tickling. When, im not looking for them, im not in the mood. When I want to read tickling fiction, I dont want to spend several days getting to the juicy parts, reading through hundreds of pages. I want to get there, enjoy it, and be done with it. I dont like stories that are too short, but if its going to take me more than 20 minutes to read your story, its probably not my cup of tea either.

I actually prefer stories that seem mainstream but then surprisingly veer off into tickling. The thing about TMF stories is that no matter how they start, you always know where they're headed.

I've always thought a dominant/aloof/controlling character grappling with the power exchange of being restrained and tickled makes for an interesting story arc.

That is indeed one thing im into.
