Okay, well, we have a thread about pets, now here's one about pet names. In my lifetime, I've known of/heard of about five dogs with very unusual names, including my own dog that I had growing up, whose name was Zelda. My great grandfather had a dog named Pepe, whom my family claims was a perverted little tyke that used to pleasure himself on people! A lady my parents knew when I was growing up had an Alaskan Malamute dog named Knockscha. (No idea if I spelled that right) That had to take the cake for weird pet name. My best friend had two Akita dogs named Saki and Niko. I thought those were unusual names.

I had a cat named Seruchi. That name always caused puzzled looks when I took her to the vet. 😀

My puppy's name...

Jagermiester! But I love her! She is a pitt bull and german shepard mixture sooo cute!!

I haven't got a pet, but a friend of mine had a dog of indeterminable race (we call such bastards "stairway handrail") whom he called "Herr Hund" (Mr. Dog)... 🙄

And a former girlfriend of mine had a Persian cat called "Koochie"! Now, I wonder where that name came from... 😀

Last week I was talking to a truck driver who works in the same company I do He had gotten a dog from an animal shelter and named her Volvo Yes Volvo, the makers of cars and trucks He happens to drive a Volvo truck

Ok..here are some of the more entertaining ones the I recall:

Deogi (spell out dog...)
Non-a-me (pronounced that way..but read it slowly)
Enu (means little dog in Japanese...as in Shiba Enu)
Muggles (for those who read HP you'll get that one)
Shakespeare

One of my cats was named "Pickle Feet" before I changed it to "Peaches" (I can't even imagine going around calling her that). My aunt adopted a dog named "Sweet Cakes" - she called her "Cakes" for short.

Amusing anecdote about an unusual cat name. We have a gay couple who brings in their cat whose official name is "Snatch Hairs." Hard to say that with a straight face anyway...but we call her "Snatch" for short. One day, one of my colleagues goes in, and she hadn't seen the cat before. She made one of those unfortunate slips and introduced herself as Dr. Snatch! She has yet to live that one down...but the guys found it quite amusing 🙂

And I've even treated a cat named Desdemona (she's a bitc*y little thing!).

Great topic Mitch!

Oh thats easy!

Hang on I'll tell you right now let me find out---"Hey HOney what is your sisters name?" oh yeah thats right Griselda!

The preceding was brought to you in part by the tongue-in-cheek corporation!!!!!!

My toads were Princess Puffer and Edwin.
My sister has a cat named Maceo.
My other sister named her cat Pitty-Pat (after Gone With the Wind)
When my mom was little she wanted to name her cat Meow. But my pop-pop refused to yell that out the back door every morning. I still crack up when I picture that.
Hmmm... we also had a cat named O'Hara when I was little, after me cousin Maureen. I have a fish named Ross. Not after Friends.
My buddy has two cats. One is Dustbunny, and the other is Taco. Taco is actually derived from TOC, which is derived from "The Other Cat"... what a nice existence... bet he feels appreciated...
Mwah!

In the movie "A Patch of Blue" there was a dog named Scum Dog. 😀

I used to work with this beer-swilling, tattooed, bandana covered, bearded gentleman who named his Golden Lab 'Dipshit'. "Here, Dipshit, let's go out." "Hey, Dipshit, fetch!"

Remarkable, the kind of people who pass your way in the course of your life.

i had a cat when i was a little kid that i named JoJo. it was always around me when i got home from school.

My boyfriend's grandfather's dog was named "pup"- when they took him to the vet, they were embarrased that that was his name, so they told the vet "jeff"- lol, how confused the vet must have be when Pup didn't respond to his name at all, lol!!!

Steve Martin's character in the movie "The Jerk" named his dog Shithead.

My friend has a dog that she named "Senator Ovaltine" because, who knows why crazy people do things. Oswald from Drew Carey wanted to get a dog named Bill Gates so he could say things like "Dammit Bill Gates, you peed on the rug again" and "Bill Gates, you're such a dumb dog".
