What is WWE's fascination with breaking up quality tag teams?

I wish Miz would actually say "HOO-RAH!" more these days, but I suppose they're moving him past it. They really are two of the better athletes to come out of Tough Enough. Some people don't agree with me, but I think Morrison has the potential to hold one of the big titles someday. You know, NOT the ECW belt. 😉

Easy on the ECW hate.............

I still have faith in that brand. Why I don't know?

I don't really "hate" ECW. They've just handled it extremely piss-poor. Their roster was absolutely decimated in the draft.

Well lets face facts, ever since Benoit there has been a complete lack of commitment to the ECW brand.

Yeah, true. I fear that it will ultimately fold, but you never know. I've been wrong about that kinda stuff before.

Believe it or not its a top rated show for its time slot on Tuesday nights. Its not going anywhere, neither as a brand or as a show sadly.

See, like I said I'm frequently wrong. 😛 WWE needs some fresh ideas. They've been coasting by on auto-pilot ever since the demise of WCW. It's sad, too. I can sit here all night and explain point by point how I'd "fix" WWE, but it wouldn't change a thing. God would I love to try, though. 😀

Goodness Slaver, you have to be one of the most insane people in the history of mankind. Your first paragraph is ridiculous. Of course someone didn't bring up the Hogan comments, but someone DID bring up the Hogan thread. YOU. Do you remember your statement in this thread that started "a wise man..."? YOU brought me into this thread you jerk. Man, your parents should have backhanded you a long time ago.

Of course you can't enlighten me to anything because I already know Vince is a businessman in the entertainment business. Along with that distinction, I KNOW that there will be "shady" relationships. No one said McMahon is innocent. But, you have taken an unreasonable vendetta against a man who did nothing personal to you. You decided to insult WWE fans with your ridiculous views. That is why I am here to make an ass out of you. Seems to be working...

As for the topic, I don't know, I can't get into the Miz/Morrison team, just like the Rhodes/Holly team (or what was the Rhodes/Holly team). The Tag Team division was last interesting with the Dudleys, Hardys and Edge/Christian. I think that helped hurt the Tag Team division (not divtion as Slaver likes to spell it. LEARN TO SPELL!) as those teams kept facing each other a billion times. They should continue to work on the tag team division. Miz/Morrison are probably the best team, but I still like the team of Santino/Carlito. I think they really could have an entertaining run as champions.

Remember the Honky Tonk Man? Couldn't wrestle a lick, but somehow held onto the IC belt FOREVER, by cheating and what not. You built up heat against him. I mean, people HATED the Honky Tonk Man. Then finally he lost. You can do the same with Carlito/Santino. Have them win the titles, cheat their way to keep the titles, laugh at their promos, have them even beat teams like Undertaker/Big Show by some crazy cheating miracle, and have the titles for a long time. When they finally lose, people will rejoice and you generate interest again. Same with Miz/Morrison. To generate interest, have those two teams have the belts forever and give them more mic time.

It hurts that teams have to be divided up amongst different shows. There aren't that many to go around anymore. They could reform a few of them, but in some cases that'd probably be going backwards. Let's see if I can even recall all the current tag teams...

Miz/Morrison (SmackDown/ECW)
Cryme Tyme (RAW)
Hawkins/Ryder (SmackDown)
DiBiase/Rhodes (RAW) - as of the PPV
Jesse/Festus (SmackDown)
Yang/Moore (SmackDown) - maybe once Yang returns from the suspension

Are the Highlanders still around? I remember one was hurt. Overall, it's a reeeeeeeeal thin crop. We're just in a bad era for tag teams, unfortunately. Sadly, I don't see that changing anytime soon.

I just thought of two or four reasons (however you want to look at it) of why the WWE has such a fascination of spliting up tag team.

Reason number one: Jeff Hardy
Reason Two: Matt Hardy
Reason Three: Edge
Reason Four: Christian (back when he was with WWE)

these four men pretty much made Vince McMahon see dollar signs. Think about it? when did teams start "breaking up?" when the Hardy Boyz and Edge and Christian went by the wayside and started having sucess on there own.

Basically the WWE is trying to strike gold again but they just don't have another Matt or Jeff Hardy, or a Edge. Matt Hardy carried Smackdown on his back for months when the WWE started going downhill, he was the only reason to watch on friday nights, and Jeff Hardy is all ready starting to make some noise as a singles competitor.

Look no further than the Hardys and Edge and Christian for the demise of tag teams.

I can see where you are coming from, the only flaw in that logic (and I speaking of those whom book the show, not yours) is that Hardys and E&C were together for a while, in fact it was their tag team years that built them into superstars, and thats why they were able to explode as single stars.

I agree with Slaver on this one. Those teams had a lot of time and some great matches together. We were engrossed in watching them, became big fans, and continued to follow them after they broke up. The Londons and Kendricks of the world didn't really get that opportunity. Though, strangely enough, I read today that Kendrick is apparently better received by management than London is. Perhaps that was what ultimately lead to the decision to split them.

Thanks Adam, at least someone realizes I know what I am talking about... even if I can't spell it right :blaugh:.

Wow, I thought Mankind was the most insane person in the history of mankind. I remember what I said, and why I said it. You did say "Vince does what the people want." and I pointed out what he's done, so those must be the things that the people want right? My parents have back handed me, how do you think I ended up like this?

The only person you are making an ass out of is you, but you just don't realize it yet. Don't worry, you'll catch on soon, I have faith in you big guy. I've already told you, I don't need to have shit done to me personaly to dislike somebody, and the shit he has caused should have lead to a chaing of the dial in every house hold in North America... though I here they are doing even better in Europe these day then over here.

Yeah well... ok I got nothing on these tag teams. I'll spell divition divtion if I like. I don't piss on you for spelling Armour or Colour with out a u, so I'll thank you to never mind me droping an i here or there or over there, and up there, and down there...

Honky Tonk Man rocked, never won a single title diffence as IC Champ (for over a year). He either got DQed or counted out. That was one of the best (and I guess longest) angles they ever did... to bad it ended with Warrior wining the belt, even you have to agree with me on that one. Warrior made Honky look like Lou Thez for fuck sakes.
