what is your favorite way to relieve stress?

Back in the day;

I would relieve stress by finding a pimp and beating the living hell out of him.

These days, I roll my wheelchair to the top of a windy hieght near my home, and contemplate the beauty of the valley I live on the edge of while slowly smoking a really good cigar and sipping on a Starbuck's cafe con leche with almond flavoring, laCed with Castillo Silver white Rum and dark Creme De Cacao. (No, my local Starbucks does not offer it that way, curse it! I have to add the booze myself.)

I often do that to release the overflow of energy I have, always when nobody's watching (because it looks embarassing at times). You're right about that one.
 
writing songs or poetry about the things that are making me feel stress so i can make a bad thing maybe into something good. 🙂

But then you're socializing and then it's not weird to be in motion. It's like dancing or expressing yourself in body language. Suddenly bouncing up and down may look weird when you're alone and you get suddenly caught doing it.

Anyway, you're right that it's not wrong doing it when everyone's looking. It's only embarassing when you start doing it alone and suddenly someone joins in unexpectedly. 😉

I know it would be hard to believe, but I have met women out of the blue dancing a little jig in public.

I will be working and something cool made me happy, and I will tell who ever is around, “That is so cool, I think I will dance.” I start doing a little dance, and look around and notice a woman smiling. I ask,” would you like to join me.” I usually get a response like, “what the hell,” or “You look like you are a fun person, sure I will.” Before you know it, we are talking and laughing. Then I will get the comment, “You are a lot of fun, what are you doing later.” It works, try it, you would be surprised. I do very well, and it is not for my looks either, trust me.

Just get out there and have some fun, don’t worry what others may think. Most cases, they are wishing they could be having that much fun too.

So get out there and dance a little jug, or jump up and down and act like a Looney.

jumping in my hottub....a hot cup of tea...and classical music on the stereo..like yesterday...it was magical...those days are to be treasured..
 
meeting friends
going to the movies
reading a good thriller
chatting with friends
a long walk or bycycle ride with my mp3 player on max volumn
video games
sleeping 🙂
 
I like to relieve stress by working out, listening to a relaxing CD, taking a hot shower, riding my bike, renting or going to a movie (preferably a comedy), and those are just the highlights.

I'll say it. I know you're all shocked. 😀

My vote's for masturbation as the stress-reliever though, as opposed to sex. Sex requires (or should require) attention to the other person's enjoyment, so while it's obviously more fulfilling, it's also more effort. Masturbation is just about you. 🙂

But even with that said... masturbation is still more effort than reading a good book, catching a fun movie, or getting a massage. So I guess for me, those pastimes still win out, if stress relief is what I'm after. 😎
 
Problems arise when you happen to dislike yourself...

I'd imagine that if that's the case, then you'd need to address the self-esteem issue before any simple matter of stress relief would really help. 😱
 
Depends on the nature of the stress.

Work-related stress:
Save it for home (you can't snap on the kids).

Anger, frustration, anxiety:
Jogging, push-ups, crunches, deep-knee bends, shadowboxing.

Depression:
Writing bad to mediocre poetry, walks through the woods, visits to the beach (or other outdoor stuff), listening to music.

When I'm in the mood to get myself out of it:
Art, writing short stories, finding ways to make other people happy, tickling and flirting.
