i often wonder what makes a cat do this or that...like with chelsea...why does she all of a sudden decide to get up and walk to the screened in porch? what makes her sleep with me one night, then another night sleep elsewhere? when she sits and stares at me, what is she thinking? one time when i was lying beside her...she stared at my face, my hair, my eyes, her eyes moving all around...what was she thinking then? when she gets into this affectionate mood that she does at least once a day, where she rubs and purrs and licks...what makes her do that? wouldn't it be intriguing to know just for one day what your pet i.e. cat is thinking? when she decides to attack me out of the blue...when she arches her back at me like a halloweenie cat...what is she thinking? is it all instinct? i am convinced she is smarter than many humans...why does she eat paper??? lol....what makes her do the things she does? just questions i know that have no answer..

Here are two things that I've learned in this life:

Women are impossible to understand.

Cats are harder to understand than women.

😛

I stopped trying to figure my cats out a long time ago. Yep. that's right. I've got more than one now.

They're chaotic creatures. That much I figured out. One second, two of them are beating the hell out of eachother, the next, they are snuggling, purring and cleaning the other.

As I type this, two of them were sleeping together. Then I herd growling, hissing and thumping. They both ran in different directions and hid.

Chaotic indeed.

I just laugh at it. It's totally harmless and more than just a little cute. But they are always affectionate. So I love 'em just the same.

I hate cats. icy cold creatures. :sowrong:

Now Maniac, tut tut 😛. You are wrong :firedevil Perhaps if you were warm and friendly to a cat they may reciprocate :xpeepsofa

I know what you mean Iz, they are so unique in many ways, do their little things that make us look at them in bafflement. Like when they suddenly charge up the stairs as if they've been chased, we have a cat LuLu who sits there and just stares at the floor for ages or the ceilings (perhaps we have a ghost lol).

cats are cool they rub up against you and the furniture as to stake out territory. They like to lay in your lap and I like to gently butt heads with them. But the only time I know what they are thinking is when they are hungry.😛

what makes a cat tick?
I really don't have the answer. However, if you hear one tick, it's best to dive underneath the nearest table :xpeepsofa !

I've often been amazed and how prevalent cats are as domesticated pets considering their nature (they are low-maintenance- I suppose that doesn't hurt). I feel like you can never take the 'wild' completely out of a cat. They're sort of a strange cross between a domesticed and wild animal.

:cat: tick... tick... tick... tick...

uh lol...i should have known you would post a funny...

i've had cats for years..they amaze me constantly..

Cats are the coolest.

Anyone who thinks they're cold, aloof creatures has listened to too many people who probably don't like animals to begin with.

I've had cats all my life and they've been my best companions.

I've had some live to close to 20 years and one almost made it to 21, mainly because all my cats have been indoor cats.

same here...tigger lived to fifteen she was a white angora...and stevie lived to be eighteen...both females..both indoors only...and chelsea is also only indoors...we have a screened in porch we let her go out on...so she can still watch the birds, squirrels..etc...without getting into any harm or trouble..chelsea is a quiet cat...i was hoping she would talk like stevie did..but she doesn't...only that strange sound she makes when she plops over...or jumps up...and she does chatter at the birds though....but no meowing at all....purring yes....the first month she was with us she purred non stop...and the vet couldn't hear her heartbeat hehe...

cats aren't cold...they are mysterious...they have the most awesome eyes i've ever seen..

I am a dog person. I love dogs The bigger the dog, the better I like it...

However...

When my daughter moved here from Washington State, she was only able to bring one animal and so had to leave her cat behind.
My neighbor's cat had kittens and by the time my daughter got here, the kittens were just ready to leave their mother. As a surprise, I brought one of them home for my daughter. As luck would have it, the little furball has chosen me over her.

Did I mention I am a dog person?

Now, I have said that I don't I hate cats... it's just that I prefer dogs. I have said that up til now.

Oh this kitten is cute enough. Big eyes, adorable face and just a tiny bitty thing... but friends, don't let its cuteness fool ya. This is a demon cat. A 1 1/2lb furball from hell. An evil spawn of Satan.
In the 3 weeks we have had it, it has shredded my legs, clawed my arms and gouged my feet. I swear I have lost a pint of blood a week since its arrival. The slightest twitch has her going into predator mode. She relishes using my legs for not only scratching posts, but likes to climb them especially when I am wearing shorts.
She even terrorizes the dogs.
Her and I am having a power struggle when it comes to my endtable tops, and I just know that we're gonna have this same arguement when she is big enough to jump onto the kitchen counter.

I think I'd rather have a puppy destroy my favorite pair of slippers.

I don't care about what a cat might be thinking, but it sure would be nice if I could communicate with it. I'd explain to it the meaning of kitty fritters and threaten it with Mr. Microwave.
I bet I could make a killing in another country by coming up with a new flavor of "Kitty Helper."
