What Marvel Comic book should be made into a movie next?

Now were talking!

Luke Cage

Good Call!!!!

That "Hero For Hire" used to kick some major inner city gangster ass! He could take whatever a narco crime family threw at him.....

I'd plunk down ten bucks to see Cage give a "super hero beat down" to "50 cent" and his punk sidekick, "P Diddy"! 😛

Anybody remember the "Black Panther"? Might be neat to see him and his "crew" infiltrate a columbian jungle and take out a major drug cartel.....

Triple H might be allright, but remember all the good superhero film thus far have been good because of great actors, not stunt casting. Triple H looks like Thor, but acting wise... not so much.
Yes, you're right. I was thinking that when I recommended him, and really Sorbo's not much of an actor either. But I don't know who might have both the look and the act. Maybe one of Cloudgazer's mysterious swedes.

Or may Arnold in a blond wig. 😉

And I'd like to put a vote in for an Avengers film. 😀
Oooooh, yeah. Or Captain America on his own.

And Vin Diesel as Deathlok? Brilliant!

I'm a little doubtful about the Inhumans. Their story is so vague.

I've heard a few people saying Karl Urban (The Chronicle of Riddick, Doom) would make a good Thor.

Personally, I think Vladimir Kulich looked mighty Thor-like as Buliwyf in "The 13th Warrior".

i was thinking of Vladamir myself as Thor, but he looks a bit too old these days. Thor has always been rather youthful looking, like he was in his late 20's.

i still say Karl Urban should be Moon Knight. he has the chops for it, and the look. we know he can play a good bad guy, and he has that soldier vibe.

now, what if someone got really crazy, and decided to tell the story of Nick Fury and his Howling Commandos?

They had a tv movie for Nick Fury, with David Hasslhoff as the main character. LOL personally it was not very good.

Strider makes another good call, DarkHawk was another of my favs.
Deathlok/ Vin Diesel, that would be good. Wasn't Deathlok something like a mechanized zombie character?

When do we get that long-awaited Paste Pot Pete movie? Anyone? Anyone?

Just as soon as the Trapster releases it....

Paste Pot Pete. Hah. Could there BE a lamer villain?

Hey, here's an idea. How about an ABC mini-series depicting the Secret Wars? :blaugh:

Deadpool, done by Edgar Wright, starring Henry Rollins.

Oh christ and if they do the self narrations, it would be, to use the pun "Uncanny" and amazing

Sure there could, how about the Terrible Tinkerer one of Spidey's first villains!

As for Secret Wars, that could be cool, but it would either cost one hell of a bitch for ABC to make it, or be so lame it would make our eyes bleed. But I'd love to see it done on Sci-Fi channel, I bet they could get it right!

eh...not so much as a zombie. he was basically a pacifist that got turned into a killing machine.

of...and that Hasslehoff piece of slag? bah...the Hoff ain't fit to spit-shine Fury's boots. and i'm talking about more of an Origins story, when Fury first gained fame, before he took the Infinity Elixir.

okay thanks, was never really sure, as Death looked zombiesh.

And yeah, that movie sucked so much that I wanted to leap to my own death!

Captain America. Definitely Captain America. I know they recently killed him off, but I hear Marvel installed a revolving door in heaven, so I know he'll be back soon. But they really need to do this one.

indeed. the one that was made in the early 90's was decent, but not good enough.

Finally...someone else who doesn't slag the movie. It was alright, but pretty boring overall. Still, it was cool to see Cap in action.

::looks up from his new Runaways:: Runaways!

Granted, finding kids with comic timing is tough, but it could very well be a classier (in the high brow/low brow sense) Goonies/80's kids type adventure flick, garnering a huge demographic. Granted, it would help if it was more popular.

And hell, Joss Whedon's writing for it now. C'mon Joss.

Gotta' second suggestions for "Inhumans" (that could be classic, if done correctly, but I would demand an additional short film included in the DVD set featuring Lockjaw 🙂 ), and "Sgt. Fury and his Howling Commandos".

I'd consider a "Cloak and Dagger" movie (I'd actually considered assembling a pitch a while back for revamping them and getting them their own series/mini-series again -- not necessarily that anything would come of it, but fun to play with).

I'd say a "Black Panther" movie would be good if they weren't going to botch it. Alas, odds are, they will.

Unfortunately, they're going to botch many of these things.

That said, I think a fundamental failure in the entertainment industry's thinking is the assumption that fans want to see the comics brought to life means that they want to see them in live-action.

Bull.

Comics evolved as a visual medium marked by the work of talented artists -- VERY few of whom had their style bound to photo-realistic depictions. For me, a great deal of the enjoyment of comics is the true art and style and looking to it for inspiration and ideas in my own work...

Things work in comics that just can't translate to a live-action screen -- Wolverine's yellow costume, for instance -- it would look ridiculous. Stunts and agility that are fantastic on the comic page periodically lose suspension of disbelief after they're added in through CGI work. In a comic, these factors often just seem to fit. Live action? Not so much. Not to mention, however much I love Hugh Jackman, I just can't see him as Wolverine. Just can't. I will always see Gary Sinise as Lt. Dan in "Forrest Gump" as my ideal Wolverine -- a cigar-chomping Vietnam lieutenant, later drawn to drink, and shouting at God, daring him to strike him down in the middle of a hurricane -- that's Wolverine without the claws (or the legs). But I'd have loved to have seen Gary given the chance to bulk up a bit and try the part. But that's the thing. This actor or that actor just won't cut it for everyone. That's where animation has an advantage, I think...

What I don't understand is why Marvel Entertainment doesn't couple with one of the great anime movie houses like Studio Ghibli or others that will do honor to not only the story but the tradition of hand-drawn art.

I was horrified when I first heard MTV would be airing animated episodes of "The Maxx" by Sam Kieth. No one could really capture Kieth's style, I thought... But with a team dedicated to preserving his vision, the final product was outstanding for it's accurate reflection of Kieth's flare.

I think the market and talent is there for some truly outstanding animated product, loyal to the history of hand-drawn art that is comics, and capable of being specific even down to a style of an individual artist... That's the movie I'd like to see most -- a big-budget Spider-Man anime flick looking to influences from Todd McFarlane and Humberto Ramos. A sharply animated Wolverine piece with Ed McGuinness musculature and Frank Miller grit. And no cutting corners.

Thor...hmm. Yeah, I know I'm probably out of my league jumping in here, but...maybe Kevin Nash? He's already exhibited a bit of talent in the acting arena--give him back the long hair (OMG, please!) and make him a blonde again. I fully believe that Shawn Michaels could pull it off acting-wise, but he may not be quite bulky enough, yes?

Thor is certainly a "manly man", but my impression was that he was also Adonis-like/beautiful (in a manly way, of course! 😀) in his physical appearance. The last thing Triple-H could ever be accused of is being handsome. I mean, really...*delicate shudder* :shake:

Just random smatterings as I read... 😉

LOL interesting ideas big sister ^^ (hehe, yeah decided to adopt Mistress Aura as a sis, as I get a very strong protective big sis aura from her ^^).

I don't think Shawn Michaels could do it, as he's too small, and I mean size wise, not buff wise. Though he's pretty funny, maybe make him Loki?

and with all that being said, i assume you have seen the various animated movies that have been released in the last year or so, like the two Ultimate Avengers, or Iron Man? those were pretty damn good thus far, and there is a Doctor Strange straight to DVD release animated movie coming along as well.

animations DO help in re-telling the story and making the fantastic happen. but i'm also always a sucker for actors/actresses in costume. i mean, Mystique was a bad ass bitch in the X-Men cartoons, but seeing Rebecca Romjin in nothing more than paint and latex was hot. and we all got to see Patrick Stewart in the role he was meant to play. same with Thomas Jane, who made a fantastic Punisher.

and for the dear sweet Mistress Aura: Nash as Thor? maybe not Thor. Heimdall, or even Tyr...but not Thor. i could never support Triple H as Thor, either. i still believe that Marvel ought to look into some of the Swedish actors that still have that youthful look, but can pull off a mighty and righteous god the right way/

Chris Jericho would be a great Loki IMHO.
