What's in a (screen)name?

Now see! I'm glad you cleared that up for me. What you described is exactly what i thought on reading your name for the first time. Later, this horrible, horrible image of "Alan Alda and personal lubricant" flashed in some deep recess of the brain, and I am now scarred for life because of a warped imagination. :unwell:

[QUOTE-Rick Tibbler]Or "A Boy named Sue"! [/QUOTE]

LMAO Rick, you get like, a bazillion cool points for refrencing MASH AND Cash in the same thread!!!!! 😀

Mine's pretty simply--tk-tickle lvr-lover 18-I was 18 when I joined up. Holy crap, I'll be 20 next week 😱

Imagine if Lionel Ritchie's "Ballerina Girl" had been playing in the background! I imagine the poster currently known as Whipping Boy would be inundated with P.M.'s. :note:

I think it'd be fun if we could change screennames as easily as avatars, but I also see how it could all get confusing and corrupted in the long run.

I went looking for more possible screen-names, and I can tell you that there's no need to look any further than a list of chart-toppers from the 80's.

First, I will start out by noting that I adore the multiquote feature. Now, onward...

What if somebody came up with a boffo name, the name they should have thought of when they first joined, and wanted desperately to be that particular name. Wouldja let `em, then?

Sorry if I'm being pesky with the questions...

It's just that, that perfect name might hit me one day, and I'd like to think I'd have that option. Maybe I could put some kind of "The Poster Formerly Known As" disclaimer in my profile for clarity?
If one member were allowed to change their name, we would have to allow all changes, regardless of reason. If you were desperate for a new name, a new account registering would I suggest you do. And we welcome questions, so no peskiness yet.

And by-the-by: HisDivineShadow is a great screen-name. How'd you come by it? Anime? Video game? Both? It'd make a great band-name...
'Tis from the series/movie(s) Lexx. His Divine Shadow was the original villain. Some explanatory links, if you are bored:

Mine isn't that exciting...

Camel was a nickname given to me during my freshman year of college...my roommate, I learned, when she laughed too hard, she squeaked like a rodent...not that I ever gave her a reason to laugh to hard...😉 Anyhoo, I dubbed her "Gerbil" after I found out about her squeakiness, which, much to her dismay, stuck and everyone on our floor began calling her by her new nickname...so she vowed to come up with a nickname for me...and, one night, during an episode of rather severe back pain, my roomie said to me, "You carry all of your stress in your back...the way a camel carries water..." and she decided then and there to call me Camel...which stuck for a couple of years...no one calls me that anymore. But I love it. 26 is the day of the month on which I was born, and my favorite number...that's pretty much it! 😀

I'll be...

See, I was gonna guess that you might be a fan of The Rocky Horror Picture Show, and went with a song title from the movie.

Love that lil' avatar, regardless!

grrrr.....I HATE BEING REFERENCE BY A MOVIE I"VE NEVER SEEN!

I'm so sick of, "Oh it from that movie". and i'm like, "No it's not, i just like the name". and they say, "Sure...." and then i slit their eyes and say, "Well try refrencing movies now that you can't watch them". Then they're all like, "ARRGHGA HHHHH AHHHH ARRROOOGG!!!"

But seriously if you looked at all the threads i've made, you'd understand...I hate ignorance.

Explain them your nickname's meaning, when you did it (so many ago), i liked it, it were interesting to me.
😉

Well, "kalamos" is ancient Greek for "quill".
It also means rod, as in a fishing rod, or reed, as swamp reeds or organ reeds.
It also happens to be a character from Greek myth, and island location NW of mainland Greece.

I have a smattering of classical education, and can draw, so I go by the first meaning.
Plus a quill makes for a suitable tickling implement.

Kalamos is also an acronym of my longer psedonym over Yahoo, so if you're receiving mail from some Kaldred A. Mosley, well, it is just me.

😀

Ooo! That's great! I like the thought that went into that. Except that "Rick Tibbler" sounds so, so...silly now. :speechles

I suppose that, worst case scenario, if I DID decide to change my name, I would just go the whole re-register route. For now, though, it's Rick T. :]

well, mine's a no brainer, my name's Norman, Norm for short, and i'm big... buff perhaps, or lumpy, your call. 😉

not to mention i've been called BigNorm almost all my life

Ooo! That's great! I like the thought that went into that.
And that's a relatively new nickname to me.
You should have seen the thought that went into the other older ones.

😀

...

So, seriously, I came up with the nick, then googled it up if it sounded wrong in other langs.
It is a bit weak in Italian, but it was supposed to be used outside Italy anyway.

Nah, it's fun.
Just keep that owl avatar, cause it's great.

For now, though, it's Rick T. :]
Reminds me of Rick Dias, one of MS Gundam's mechas.

I was considering going by some of the names I've been called my whole life, but then realized that they might get pulled for offending board sensibilities. 😉

Woodsy the tickle-owl!

No promises on the owl avatar, as much as i currently like it. I'm really bad about changing avatars as quickly as socks!

🙄 Trust me, I've heard plenty 'KY Jelly' references to my screen name (I use it on other sites as well). Amazing how people think their being 'clever and original' by slinging that one out when I post something they don't agree with...

Loved M*A*S*H* when it was originally on, even though my personal/political leanings are more towards Charles than B.F. Pierce's. I guess I proved Winston Churchill's quote to be true... 😎

I remember the first meaning, but the rest of them were new to me. Also they're interesting 😉 :super_hap. Thank you for the benefit of that worthy explanation.

Welcome!
My pleasure.

It is always fun explaining how and why we pick nicknames.

Oh, like THAT'S gonna happen!
We gotta get in some birfday-girl tickles this week, don't we? Mwahahahahaa!

...

mine is a character I created for my comic

That's neat, nyte21. Did you come up with the character/comic before joining here, or after?

O_O Uh, that's not necessary, I'm sure I'll be getting the like from multiple guys around here, you can just relax! n__n;;;

Right, like a ticklish 20 y.o. getting a rib-tickling this week is supposed to just DISAPPEAR from my mind now.
Nope. Not gonna happen. In fact, I'm gonna attempt to direct my telepathic tickle-energy-vibes at you for your entire B-day week, especially since you're a good 8 states away, anyhow...(grumbles over gas prices)...

We could use some more Magenta, though.

I was always partial to Columbia.

I chose my name because I just wanted something original and 'cool' related to tickling. Its not my regular internet handle. I guess its my tickle handle though I'm open to all instruments of tickling. As for Daemon instead of Demon, I always liked that spelling since I saw it. Plus daemon works well for a tickler :evilha: . So there you have it, FeatherDaemon.

Cool! 😎

Those are both splendid names. I totally love that avatar that FeatherDaemon has, BTW.

Incidentally, didja ever consider spelling it FaetherDaemon?

u__u;; great, now I got Rick after me too! 😱:tounge:😉
