What's the best tool for building websites?

More Dreamweaver support here, although lean on the 8th version I do. Note that Adobe is coming out with version nine some time in '07.
 
While I must admit Dreamweaver is a great tool, I suggest you learn your basic HTML and a little javascript first. I do websites for part of my living and I actually hard code most of it. I only use dreamweaver to make image maps or some other fancy things that I might need. I also always sketch out on paper what I want the website to look like first, then sometimes I design the whole thing in photoshop and bust up my images into slices. If you can, get into Flash also...that is the future of all websites!

All in all, everyone is correct though. If ya wanna get started quick, get Dreamweaver, do the tutorials and you will be in business in no time!

If you're a novice and beginner, I recommend Front Page. I don't think you can buy it any more, but you can *cough* download it *cough*

I like FP, just because of the simplicity and ease of use.
 
I really want to learn how to make my own websites. I have my own dreams ever since youtube was sold for 1.5 billion. 🙂

How much does the latest version of dreamweaver cost?

I've tried learning some html on my own but it;s hard and tedious.

www.w3schools.com has some basic tutorials for html if you want to try that out.

How does hosting a website work? Do you just go some provider and have them host it?
 
Check out GoDaddy.com to "park' or host your domain name. Then Look at Influxhost.net to upload and host your site.
