All the goofiness aside, the basic training barracks looked a lot like the WW2 barracks at Ft Jackson's "Tank Hill" where I completed my own Basic Training.
Warren Oates' portrayal of Sergeant Hulka was spot on. John Larroquette's portrayal of Captain Stillman was less typical, but damned funny.
It's a great film. A classic, in my opinion.

Ghostbusters all the way. I actually read they might be making a third Ghostbusters, and that of few of the writers from The Office are working on the script. That would be great (I'm a huge fan of The Office).
"Stripes"...and not just for the aunt jermmimah treatment scene! Also "Where the Buffalo Roam" was a pretty terrible movie but Murray did an unbelieveable Hunter S Thompson.
