Whats your opinion on Comic Book Movies?

I remember seeing some of the earlier comic book movies that were made in the 70's and 80's I didn't like any of them except for Batman. Some of the TV Series were good, but the movies were nothing special.

But today there is technology to make the super powers and stunts of super heroes seem real. The only thing missing is the ridiculously huge builds men had and the hour glass figures that women had.

X-men resurged the interest in comic book movies and now there are several more coming out.

What’s a week without an update on Marvel movie projects? A waste, I tell you! Avi Arad has been spilling more beans about the comic company’s cinematic prospects again, and here’s a rundown of the more interesting stuff:

• Fantastic Four has been moved back to summer 2005. Fox and Marvel had been a little obsessed with getting the movie out December 4, 2004, but they finally realized that a big budget special effects movie without a script or director would have a tough time making it to theaters in twelve months.

• Ghost Rider will be PG-13, and still stars Nic Cage (sigh). Arad expects production to begin sometime after the new year.

• Iron Man is being written by the Smallville team of Miles Millar and Alfred Gough. Arad characterizes it as an expensive movie, and says the script will be ready by the end of the year. He also calls the film “Howard Hughes meets superheroes.” I can’t wait to see who plays Tony Stark’s network of Mormons tasked with fetching him fresh blood.

• Nick Fury is bringing his SHIELD Helicarrier to the Cineplex someday soon. Arad says that the one eyed spymaster will be played by an actor who always wanted to be Fury. I thought that was David Hasselhoff, and I thought he already defined this character in a Fox TV movie?

• Mort the Dead Teenager continues its inexorable approach to the big screen.

• X-Men 3 and Hulk 2 are scheduled for 2006, along with Captain America (now hiring one of the world’s “greatest writers.” I guess Avi got Salinger out of retirement. And no, I don’t mean Matt), Namor (which Arad claims will have “more fish than Finding Nemo.” Now THERE’S a tagline), Iron Fist, and Nick Fury.

Oh and hell boys is coming out next year too.

The first two Superman movies were incredibly good, the last two were progressively dire, due to the wanker Salkinds firing Richard Donner. Richard Lester quite frankly, was crap.

The recent Hulk movie was the festering excrement, in the prolapsed anus of a dead warthog. Reasons for this opninion I've given before.

The two X-Men movies were surprisingly good. I didn't expect X-Men to interest me in the slightest, but I found them very watchable. Mind you, with decent english actors playing lead characters, what can you expect. 😀

Spiderman was excellent. I felt a bit icky over the organic web-spinners, but that was the only gripe.

The organic web spinners were a lot more realitic movie wise than to have peter parker suddenly invent the mechanical ones. It wouldn't fit the pace of the movie.

Perfectly true of course; good point. It never mentioned where he got that cool-ass suit though.

Well Big Jim, you forced me for post 1000 to say this....

Me love Hulk, Hulk will smash puny critics in Hulk 2!!!!!!

Do I like Comic movies? Hell yeah, everyone since X-men made them cool again.

Nuff said.

Congrats on the red Feather mate. you're among the elite now! 🙂

I'm glad you liked the Hulk film, but then I suppose someone had to. 😛

I heard superman 4 sucked so much because Christopher reeve did not want to do the movie. The only way he would agree to star in the 4th movie would be if he had creative control over the plot. Naturally, the creators agreed. Reeves, at the time, had a huge anti-nucleur weapons agenda, which is what the plot of Superman 4 was all about, thanks to his influence. Apparently, if this is all true reeves doesn't know how to put some basic logic into the movie. One of the reasons why 4 sucked.

My favorite part in Supes 4 was when lois lane was flown out into outerspace, than back to earth, without any protective gear, and completly unharmed.

I agree with Jim on all counts. (What else is new? LOL) Also, I'll add Daredevil, which was a comic at one time, I think. It was pretty good, and nowhere near Hulk in bleah.😀

Sorry DK, and congrats on the feather.😀

I remember in the late 80's, that Marvel tried to launch series for The Mighty Thor and Daredevil on the back of Incredible Hulk re-uinion movies. Am I the only one who enjoyed these films? :dropatear

Thanks HisDivineShadow and Big Jim.

As in the Thor and Daredevil from the 80's Hulk... to this day I shun and my stomach hurts.

We had a huge post on the Hulk movie already, so I will leave it be.
I can't for The Punisher now... April 16.

My favorite part was when the entire United Nations applauded Superman singlehandedly seizing control of world security.

My favourite part was when he pushed the moon out of it's orbit, moving it right across the ecliptic all without causing tsunamis and techtonic disturbances on Earth.

He did make one decent point near the end though. People who sit on their arse and wait for someone else to solve their problems, will be waiting a long ****ing time.

Well, I dont know if this is what you were aiming for, but since Mike Meyers Grinch came out, it just ruined the cartoon for me. I refuse to go to the Cat in the Hat. I didnt like the Hulk, but then again, I dont read comics
