I'm a tickle masochist, for me there's really no such thing as too much. I like it to be awful. That said, if I start to feel really lightheaded I call 'yellow' (slow down), because I'd rather not pass out! I've rarely been at that point, though.

I tickle my wife pretty much daily. We rarely do bondage anymore but I can pin her and have my way at anytime. She isn't as into tickling as I am, yet she does enjoy it and gets aroused by it too. While I am tickling her I always make sure I don't cross the line, which can be someplace one day and someplace else the next. I know when she's had enough and that's usually when she's been hysterical for just a few minutes. We've never had a loooong tickle session, but we've had thousands of shorter ones. She really can't be tickled for too long because she can be extremely ticklish and she can't stand it for very long.

I haven't tickled anyone in real life as far as I remember, but I do know when I should stop and there are few thing that signals me to stop, depending on the ticklee.

If they seriously tell me to stop or seriously beg, or when they are at a verge of wetting themselves. I know some would tickle until they do wet themselves, and I can respect what they find it okay, but honestly to me...making them wet themselves/making me wet myself is not amusing.

Sometimes she says it instantly as I'm about to attack, which is totally unfair but she has the right NOT to be tickled. Other times she'll play with me for a good while before she's had enough. Heck, sometimes I'll stop because I'm tired out, and she'll still try to provoke me...

Ahh being human with free will, a variety of moods, and things is fun. It only sucks when wires get crossed, and miscommunication happens. It's all fun and games until somebody gets tickled past their threshold and somebody gets their eye poked out or something...

As a 'ler you really need to know your 'lee in this. After the first couple of times you should have a feel for it. The enjoyment here needs to be mutual. You can't push your partner and just expect them to take it. I realize that this is a necro'd thread, but I am sure that safewords existed before '04.

If it is one of 'those' situations where the stars are aligned you are tickling for the first time, don't push it. You will know right away if the perspective 'lee is into it or not. If the 'lee is into it then you just have to listen and know the difference between the playful 'stop' and the 'I am going to punch you in the face / kick you in the nuts - stop'. The difference is understandable.

I'd figure that'd be a pretty good indication to stop.
