When is the Dark Knight coming to dvd?

I can't wait till the dark knight comes out on dvd does anyone know when its gonna be released on dvd?

What's funny about it is that it's coming out on December 9th on DVD, but then in January, they're planning on rereleasing it in theaters, presumably to drum up extra buzz for the Oscars. I know they're wanting to give Heath Ledger a posthumous nomination for his role.
