... turn your head, grin like you're spanking it, and cough.

Some words of encouragement about change from your friendly, neighborhood zombie.

Let's face it, life is about as predictable as a schizophrenic with an Uzi. Most people, even people as terminally impulsive as myself, seem to gravitate towards routine. What happens, however, when that routine is disrupted.? Whether it be because you were laid off of your job, or you're headlong into messy divorce, or you've lost your way after following your heart into an uncertain future, things seem to always happen when you're finally settled comfortable into that routine.

Charles Darwin says "It is not the strongest of the species that survive, nor the most intelligent, but the one most responsive to change."

People tend to go about their lives in a haze of xenophobia. We get so used to things as they are that when they change we automatically reject them. In almost anything, there is at least one positive aspect to every change that happens. Have faith in the potential of almost every situation to get better. Once a person gets to be okay with having their routine upset and learns to embrace the change, it's easier to see the brighter side of things. If you've lost your job, you now have the push you need to find a better one, if you're in that divorce, chances are you're better off without the crackhead bastard anyways 😉 and if you've lost your way, you learn to take pleasure in the journey instead of always looking forward to the destination.

"When we are no longer able to change a situation, we are challenged to change ourselves." Victor Frankl

We don't always have the kind of control we want in certain situations. It's so hard to 'let go and let God', so to speak (and i mean this either in a spiritual way or a metaphorical way, whichever suits you best). Our pride tells us that we're better than the defeat that seems to be handed to us. But where is our pride when it's time to fix things? This is where one realizes they can accomplish so much more by changing the thing we CAN control, and that, my friends, is ourselves. Let loose of your stubborn ways, try something new, see relinquishing a little of the control your exercise over your environment as a strength instead of a weakness.

"If you're going through hell, keep going." -Winston Churchill

Without a doubt, this is one bit of wisdom to hold on to as tight as a wino holds his Boone's Farm. Don't stop, whatever you do. Going through hell is tiring. Before long, you not only feel it emotionally but sometimes even physically you begin to wear thin. Your mind is parched, starving for some glimmer of happiness somewhere and all you can seem to feel is overwhelming heaviness. Yet, what is stopping going to accomplish? That's why one should pay special attention to the words "going through hell". Eventually you'll make it to the other side if you just keep on keepin' on.

... well, that's my encouragement to anyone having a hard time with something, from someone who went through her hell and is finally seeing the other side just over the horizon. Please feel free to add to this so it may help to encourage others.

Since I'm in a good mood (or rather, not a bad one) I'll just say VERY well said and really couldn't have said it better (or at least couldn't say it better without coming off like a total @$$hole. Which I guess, still wouldn't be better...:idunno:)

I might need to reference this thread for when I do get depressed/angry (which is far too often)

And I agree, life is often about as predictable as a schizophrenic with an Uzi:jester:

Good times.

And now for something completely different...

Course, I was always told the saying went:

'When life hands you lemons, just shut and eat your damned lemons'

Either way works I suppose.:manicd:

dang so that is why my balls hurt

Yeah, well, life never let go of mine so I'm just used to it now.
