While out and about today at the Hobby Lobby.....

…….I came across this in the jewelry/bead aisle (nine bucks, but if you wait for the half-off sales, which rotate among jewelry brands, it should be half off in a week or two). I know some here like to represent our community subtly and proudly in public through symbols, like feathers, and this set fits the bill. Most are bracelet size, but some look big enough for pendants. Now, they have other sets with hearts, peace signs, and other more mainstream symbols, but I find it oddly interesting that they would offer a feather set (For years, you could find single metal feather pendants here and at other chains, but never on this scale). I’m not saying it was made for our community by the good people at Charm Me, but it does make one go “hmmmmmm.” Is there some other cultural phenomenon that would warrant a feather set?

Yes, plenty. Feathers are often used in nature-based artwork for various reasons and have cultural significance, especially among Native populations. I don't think all of those chiefs wearing their war bonnets were all secretly tickle fetishists, do you? Or the person who invented dreamcatchers?

That said, I *did* tickle someone's feet with her own dreamcatcher once, so...

Agreed. There are many other hobby shops that would be better suited to crafts such as this.

Hi, OmahaTickler-

While I would never shop at HL, back in the day when I used to build and make things all the time, I made a few very extravagant fans using feathers. A couple dancer and queen friends used them, or tried to, anyway, turns out it is pretty difficult to make durable feather fans!
