Who are some sports figures you met in your lifetime....

I saw Scottie Pippen a couple of times at some eateries he likes to go to. Although not an asshole like Rickey Henderson, but he doesn't tip at all, he says its their jobs to serve:sowrong:

Natural mentioning Scottie Pippen just made me recall something. I didnt exactly meet him, so I dont know if this counts, but one time in 1994, I was at Planet Hollywood in Chicago with a friend of mine who lives there, Pippen was eating there, and everyone was crowded around his table. As we were leaving, my friend reached out, shook Pippen's hand, and left. I didnt say anything to Pippen, so I dont know if that exactly counts as me "meeting" him, even though I was standing like two feet away from him. Pippen struck me as a first class jerk, to be honest. I was sitting a couple of tables next to him, and he looked annoyed, and called his bouncers if anyone tried to go near his table. He wasnt accomadating at all. I mean, I know it can be annoying when you're eating and people bug you, but his attitude was not nice. That was another celebrity encounter for me.

I worked for a while with Matt Suhey who was great friends with the great Walter Peyton. The funny thing is I am not a football fan and I had no idea who he really was at 1st. He was a sales person at a company I was at, I used to fix up his laptops. Real nice dude, down to earth. It was sad as I knew him when Walter passed away, he is his sons godfather.

Another sport person I met through work who also turned out to be really nice was Bobby Nystrom...didn't really know who he was either when I met him. He was then selling insurance and he was the sales person I had a meeting with at the time. He the hugest hand of anyone I had ever met. He even let me try on his ring, was twice as big as my thumb.

I have also met Phil Rizutto, Billy Martin, Bill White, briefly in a hotel I used to work at.

I went to a concert years ago and sat next to Charles Barkley and Rick Mahorn when they were with the 76ers. Hershey Hawkins and Ron Anderson were there as well, but they sat a few seats away. 2 or 3 hours and when there was no music, I was laughing, because those two were freaking hilarious. The way Charles comes across on t.v. now in the studio is EXACTLY the way he is all the time. They made jokes, tossed putdowns each other way and generally had funny comments on just about everything. Barkley was the only one who got asked for autographs for 3 hours straight, and he never refused. He was gracious and quick to shake hands, pose for pictures and give hugs.

I took pictures with Catfish Hunter and Rolly Fingers when I was four or five years old, so wayyyyyyyyyyyy too young to have appreciated the experience. They were autographed, too... Mom gave them away while I was away in the Air Force. *heavy sigh*

NO WAY!!??? Guess you'll have to start a new "Mean Mom" thread now? ;-)

LoL! Nahhhhhhh... just one of those things that you either get over or drag out for years. Why sweat the petty stuff? 🙄

For many years I used to play racquetball at a club yogi Berra owned. All the times I went there I only met him twice. A very nice down to eath fella with a great sense of humor. I also discovered that the outside auditor of the company I was working for at the time had the racquetball club as a client, so I picked the partners brain when I had the chance. His son Tim managed the club on a regular basis and I actually played him a couple of times . Good player.
