I love Cars, just as much as tickling women and sports!! lol I have a 96 Chevy Monte Carlo, which i have been working on for about 2 years now. Its really a nice ride, a little suped up (no i dont count the decals as performance parts and no i dont trust myself with NOS just yet)If anyone wants to talk about cars then this thread is for you! hope someone on here does. im open to everything from drag racing to nascar to just everyday cars. feel free to drop in. ~Jeff

p.s. what is your favorite car?? my fave is a 69 camaro ss.

Uh oh just let Jester find this thread..he could alk about cars all day and night!! My favorite car is 69 dodge charger

i was out in the country once and had a GTO from the 60's like a 67 or 68 go to race me..well we were sitting at the light and im in a v6, i know hes gonna kill me. so as the light switches i see his front end lift off the ground, i just sat there..in shock. then on the highway i was going roughly 70mph and i seen a 69 camaro supercharged and i got up next to him and i never seen him again. I mean my car is some what fast, but id rather have a Rear wheel drive car, with either a supercharger or twin turbo in it. like an 80s 350 corvette..as you can tell i love chevys. well i love all domestic muscle cars and a few imports. i did get a nice kill on a 96?? mustang 4.6L, i barely beat him, but it was a win down the straight away. i dont street race much at all tho..its too dangerous. i got to the track sometimes and run it. anyone else have any stories?? love to hear em.

I have always fancied.........

.....a classic American Muscle car. My fav would be a Dodge Charger R/T. I currently drive a Jeep Grand Cherokee 4.7ltr V8. Thats why I am in favour of the Iraq war!!.

Can anyone tell me what the dodge charger is like to drive? is it a good car? or is it all fur coat and no knickers? as we say over here.

Chargers....

Hey Red Indian, I've never driven an R/T, but I did drag race a 69 Dodge Daytona with a 440 six pack back in the 70's. It wasn't mine, I was just the driver. 😀 Bob

Man does this thread bring back some memories.
When I was 16 I had a 1950 Ford and decided to drop a 265 Chevy V8 engine in it, bored out to 283 (all by myself, out in front of the house).
Due to a lack of funds I kept the original transmission and rear end.
I was forever replacing tranny cluster gears and busted rear axles.
And fuel pumps. A good speedshift caused the fuel pump to bottom out on the front frame cross member, wrecking the fuel pump gasket and causing fuel leaks.
Got too expensive so I put the flathead back in and sold it.
Won a few races but there was one '59 Pontiac Tri-power automatic that cleaned my clock every single time.
Ah, those were the days.

My favorite car has to be the '68 Mustang Fastback GT! Of course there might be some favoritism because my dad drag races one, but I have seen restored '68 mustangs at carshows before, and I think they look truly awesome. Hopefully I can find another old mustang to race at the track. I got an engine I built from scratch with a 74 351 Windsor that should runsomewhere from 11.5 seconds to 12 seconds. Just barely legal for the street/beginner class.

DrgRcr, seeing your sig, I wanted to add that even back in the late 50's we raced on a deserted air strip at Miramar Naval Air Station in San Diego, never on the streets.
The SDPD would come chase us away on a regular basis, but we were back the next night, at least those of us who had wheels that would still turn if you know what I mean.

Well of course back then there weren't nearly as many cars on the streets as their are now and doing it where you were doing it TKPervert, didn't kill any innocent bystanders. With today's traffic its just plain stupid to street race unless you have a death wish. Speaking of airstrips reminds me of York US30 drag strips which was turned into a an airstip agins in 1980 due to flooding in 1979 which made a short season for the drag strip. It sickens me every time I pass it knowing that I would only have 30 minutes to race instead of an hour to travel to Maple Grove Raceway to race. Plus it would get the kids off the streets for a couple of nights since everyone here in York has to street race it seems unless they grew up around a drag strip like I did. It saddens me to see so many of the youth around here die to acting stupid behind the wheel.

Right now, I'm dreaming of a Facel Vega HK500, in silver, or champagne gold. Wouldn't mind an Aston-Martin DB2/4, either, in red metallic.

i feel the same way about the kids who street race around here..its stupid! they are gonna kill someone and will regret it for the rest of their lives. its a shame that they still do it. ive seen them street race down my road..in fact one nite a "riced-out" honda civic with more stickers than performance parts and a wing bigger than the car comes by. with not the right performance parts the idiot hits the nitrous and holds it, and this loud BOOM comes from his engine bay..I watch him roll down the street, jump the tracks and slam into the sidewalk breaking his tie rods and crushing his Body kit. i walked out to the road and picked up what looked to be a cylinder..i had it wrapped up in a thick towel and it was smokin hot. he comes back and got all cocky with me after i told him...i believe you dropped this. he pushed my shoulder..and usually i will just haul off and jack a person, but instead i threw the object to the ground putting a nice dent in it. hehehe..they dont wanna even screw with me. i love domestic cars..imports, a few are ok, but i really dont like civics at all..in fact, i hate them.

'riced-out civics'... love it, lots of those around here, with the exhaust that goes "rap rap rap brrrr.. rap rap'. Big wing on the back that does absolutely nothing. Heh.
My Chevy S10 short cab pickup 5-speed with the Vortec V6 and no tune-up in 60K would give one of those a good run.

Man how things have changed.

Yep glad to hear people feel the same way about imports and street racing as I do. Give me a good muscle car any day. I have to agree with you naveltkltr1350 about them no knowing/using the right performance parts. The kids aroundhere only know nitrous oxide, superchargers, and turbochargers. They have no clue that just using a better fuel pump or spark plugs will help pick up some horsepower. I'm not trying the bash the people who love imports its just that most of them don't know enough about cars or street race endangering everyone around them.

Sanctioned drag strips are following drive-in movie theaters into the abyss of economics.
Kids today like fast cars like we all did but have no place to show them off, except for that traffic light at 1st and Main.

I belong to a monte carlo forum that totally bashes ricers. i myself like a few ricers like the maxima, rx7, supra, integra, prelude and my fave the skyline. we call those exhaust units...folger fart cans..cause it looks like a folgers can, sounds like the car is farting. there is a kid around me with a grand am, turbo, nitrous, and exhaust system..he raced my best friend, he has a 91 t-top camaro with a ls6 engine in it..aka the corvette engine. my friend car was dyno tested at 423 rwhp. that grand am has about 300, and its a lot heavier too. i know my car is a heavy chevy sittin at 3305lbs. i know it can take a beating as i had a kid slam into me and total his car, all i had was a black mark across my bumper which he paid me to have fixed😀

I remember the first time I ever drove a WRX. I turned to my friend and said, "you're bragging about THIS car?" I then told him that surely, he was fecal mattering me. Biiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiig effing deal. There are cars at work that would bury the WRX deeper than Jimmy Hoffa...the only thing about the tuners is that they're cheap. If you want a real car, you're gonna have to spend the big bucks and get even a good condition, second hand Porsche 911. Once you drive one of those, you'll never go back. In fact, I would put that 1971 911 that I drove around in that one magical summer against anything you guys have been boasting about. Trust me, you don't know what fun is. I know this...it isn't a Subaru WRX!

i took my friends camaro to the limit at a drag strip..i had the car at 166.782mph i forgot the time..but it was one fast trip..i lit the tires up and was goooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooone! i raced this idiot with a civic hatchback..and stickers for his performance parts..lol..he was stock but he was certain his car was faster than my friends..he had to go to his cousins funeral..so i drove for him..and i WHOOPED that ricer down the strip. he got up to a whoppin 84 mph in the quarter..mine was 145 mph but i got it up to 166 after i passed the quarter..lol. yeah it was fun!!! LS6 engine..top speed is 181. i was almost there..then again almost doesnt count.

I like to support various "free" websites by clicking on their advertisers just to send them 0.17 cents or whatever they get for a click.

Yahoo had a thing where you could shop for cars.

I chose the category "sports cars"

They had three sub-groupings: Low-price, Mid-priced, and high-priced.

In the Hi-priced area I found Jags, Maseratti, and other cars which I can neither spell, nor pronounce, nor afford.

In the Mid-priced area I found Mustangs, Mazdas, etc.

In the low-priced area I saw a recent VW Beetle.

Oh boy a thread about cars. my very first car was a '69 camero z28 that i built myself.

Oh boy!! Cars!!

My favorite car is a 1964 1/2 Mustang convertible rag top with a 289 under the hood. A classic muscle car. Probably never own one because my size (6'5") forbids me getting into one with out putting me knees in my chest.

I happen to be a big fan of pick up trucks. I own a 2003 Dodge Ram 1500 SLT (not the Hemi model).

Oh BTW Knox, I drove my cousins Porche 911. That car is the bomb. That car was as close to a rocket on four wheels as there is.
