who watches American Idol and who is your favorite to win?

maybe John will be right for this competition in a couple of years...it's hard to dismiss someone that has potential like he does, but he'll land on his feet...he has a very strong family from the looks of it and he'll be just fine...seems odd that William Hung gets a record deal and John Stevens is considered the worst thing to hit the music scene since disco duck **shrugs**

Diana was actually my favorite tonight. I knew she was probably gonna be as soon as I learned it was Gloria Estefan night. Latin pop was a bit of a stretch, even for her, but she did the best job of the 6 finalists. She picked a great song, put a lot of energy into it, and showed off vocally. And I happened to think her dress was lovely. Simon has no damn taste.

Does Gloria every age? The woman is around 50 years old, and looks younger than I do at 30. I wanna know her secret.

Mimi 😀

P.S. I've alerted everyone in the mainstream forum that they REALLY need to tune into American Idol each week for the amount of tickling content that makes it's way into the show via Simon and Paula. Almost every night the show is on those two are at it. Someone needs to email Simon the url for this website. I think it may be right up his alley...lol

Mimi,

No Gloria never seems to age, I love her. I see her and the Miami sound machine when they were 1st getting popular at Yankee Stadium. This was a hard week for the contestants, I love George but he needs to get back to a really good performance. I also thought Diana was the best of the night. I like her, she is sweet, perky and fun to watch, plus with a little ripening she is going to be amazing. I think Latoya will take this. John has to go NOW!!

And I do love the interaction between Simon and Paula!

Ticklish pokes...

What IS with that? Are they dating or something?

Hey, Jon Stevens tried, but it's just not happening. He'll be a great lounge singer and probably have a fine career in music, but NOT as an American pop idol.

Diana definitely had the best night, which means she'll be in the bottom 3 given the way this years voting has gone.

I thought LaToya was strong as well...

Hopefully they'll redefine the voting process before the next version.

well they finally got it right this week, although George should have sat down before jamsine. I think Jasmine should go next. I think Diana was awesome this week and I liked they way she looks...! She is adorable, as is Jasmine but I think she should be next. Its getting down to the wire folks..

well despite everything that's been said about him John Stevens remained poised and sweet...and hopefully will get something out of his experience...i'll miss him

yes he was all that, he seemed like a real good character. Hopefully with a little age and some singing lessons he will do real well. Simon was right he took every bullet and he did it with grace.

I'm sorry Giggley, I did not mean to come across that way. John is in no way a BAD singer...in fact, when singing in his genre, he is quite gifted. The problem with him is merely that he is a one trick pony, and not diverse enough to be the new American Idol. He will likely have a very successful music career within his own style...that style simply is not pop. Of the 6 finalists left, he was the least compatible to be the Idol, which is why I felt he had to be voted off. But it was certainly not because I feel he has no talent at all.

Yes, America DID finally get it right this week. I got scared seeing George in the bottom 3, and then in the bottom 2, but I do have to admit that based on Tuesday nights performances, LaToya, Fantasia, and Diana had the three best performances, and deserved to be the top 3. John, George, and Jasmine were the three lower caliber singers this week.

I agree Jasmine should be the next to go now. She is cute as hell, and has a wonderful voice, but she needs a bit more practice and training in voice control to maintain her pitch before striking out on the singing career I have no doubt she'll enjoy eventually.

It will be interesting to see where all of the teeny boppers will be placing their votes now with John gone. He had an extremely strong following among the younger viewers, and they will likely be making their presence known with support for someone else now. Probably either Diana or Jasmine.

I'm still rooting for either Fantasia or George to win this competition. If either one of them bring it all home, I'll be happy.

Mimi

I predict that Fantasia, Latoya and Diana will be the top 3. I think Fantasia will win.

i'm sorry, i just get overly sensitive sometimes...it really wasn't directed at you Mimi...just an overall frustration with "pop" music. i just don't understand how a person that has admitted he can't sing(William Hung) gets a record deal and john stevens although probably not right for the brittney/timberlake type pop music that seems so prevelant today

As far as John Stevens is concerned, there is bad news and good news. The bad news first: he didn't fit in as a pop singer and is appropriately voted off of Am Idol. He had to go, there was no other obvious choice. He simply doesn't have the voice for it.

Now, for the good news. John Stevens came to idol a teenage boy, and left as a matured young man with prospects and hopes for a future career in entertainment. He's able to accept criticism without a meltdown, which is extremely important to him having a future in the business. Too many divas and prima donnas in this business as it is. He has a glowing future somewhere. Maybe he'll carve his own niche.

I am soooo sad, I absolutely loved George!!! it should have been Jasmine this week...ugghhhh. I agree that they had the bottom 2 right, but I adored George, he is so charming and I love his smile. I could envision him under my tickling fingers!

I'm sorry, but American Idol is a pure scam!

George has one of the best voices in the competition. Jasmine should've been voted off a long time ago. They just don't want to upset the folks in Hawaii. They made a bad choice. I've all but lost complete interest in the show. American Idol sucks!!!!!!!:sowrong:

I was EXTREMELY disappointed to see George go tonight. George and Fantasia are/were my two favorites, and there were other contestants that should have left before George did. He is an awesome singer.

Tonight should have been Jasmine's night to go. She's a good singer, but there's no pizzazz (sp?) with her. She's too sweet and typical. George added a unique and enjoyably flavor to the competition, and I know the upcoming weeks will be that much less enjoyable without him.

All I can say now is I hope Fantasia wins. And I hope we have not seen the last of George Huff.

Mimi

i'm gonna miss George, i liked him and i liked his performance last night...and i know i'm in the minority but i didn't like La Toya's performances last night...they just didn't interest me at all, i thought she kinda screamed her first song...fantasia did okay, i guess i'm not into the two divas as much as the rest of the country. i'm sure it's not the last of george huff somebody will sign him up to a contract (i hope, if not then there is something seriously wrong with the music industry when talented singers don't get contracts and guys who are getting their 15 minutes of fame and cannot sing do get contracts...okay now i'll shut up😀 ).

Jasmine...

I wouldn't want to be standing in her group this week...think her time is officially up at this point.

George was indeed a nice guy, and you know they don't finish first, don'tcha? 😉

Q

i always thought that american idol was stupid until i watched it for a bit then i found out that it is really stupid.

Jester...be nice! you watched it for a whole 5 min...and on top of that im sure there are a few shows you watch that are just down right stupid lol

ok Jasmine goes this week, its her turn, personally she should have gone before George. I think Diana was the best of the night, then Latoya, then Fanatasia...

we shall see what the voting public does tomorrow..

I'm fully rooting for Fantasia now. I thought she was fantastic tonight (but then, when isn't she?), even though "Holding Out For A Hero" was not really a disco song...lol

I agree Jasmine should go now. It's not that I don't like her, it's just that the other three contestants are quite superior to her in terms of pitch, control, and over-all talent. I, too, would have liked to have seen her go before George, but there's nothing we can do about that now aside from hoping George gets the recording contract he deserves.

I do really like both LaToya and Diana, but for some reason, they just don't hold my attention and make me wanna jump up and bust a move the way Fantasia does. Both are great singers..Diana is as cute as a button, and is so bubbly and energetic, not to mention has a voice and talent far beyond her 16 years...LaToya is beautiful and graceful and full of poise, and has an unbelievable amount of talent...but I get filled with an excitement when Fantasia hits the stage that I just don't feel when Diana and LaToya sing.

The next couple of weeks will be interesting indeed.

Mimi

i agree with you Mimi...i think that like Simon Cowell said La Toya is good but she's boring...Fantasia is good, but really gets people into her songs(although i wasn't crazy about her last week, shrugs). i felt bad for jasmine but it's her time...and maybe diana will stick around for the final 2 or it might be the divas.

It's so difficult studying for midterms right now! Darn American Idol!

I feel bad for Jasmine. She knew she did bad and I think that's why she cried. I know she did her best and she does have a future down the road. However, I am hoping that her tears are not going to give her more votes and push one of the better singers off. It sounds cruel and mean, but I had to say it. She went for too much challenge in those songs that she selected. Yes, she can do the high notes, but she was having a really difficult time going up and down the scales. There were way too many wrong and flat notes in there. She tried to turn up the notch too much.

LaToya was great, but I wasn't pulled into her songs. Fantasia was great as well, but I thought her second song was weaker.

Diana was certainly the best performer of the night. She is definitely cute as a button, I have to agree. She has really improved over the competition. She has got an amazing voice with so much power. It would be great if she won. But I think LaToya or Fantasia will, unless something happens.

I think it might come down to who was consistent in their performances during the competition, and who made the most improvement. I do think that LaToya said it right when she said that it doesn't matter who wins, they will all get something out of it.

Toodles!
The Prinnmeister 😀

Although I thought Simon was exceptionally cruel to Jasmine yesterday, she does need to go. I did enjoy seeing her more aninmated and mixing it up with the audience. She took a big chance and unfortunately it didn't pay off. I think she needs some time for her voice to mature and to develop her talent. We'll see her again in a year or two.

I can appreciate those who like Fantasia, but I just don't. Her voice hurts my ears and grates my nerves. I'm sure she'll continue to do well, but I don't think she's the one. I do think either LaToya or Diana will win out in the long run.

I know, beat me up or send me the hate mail! But I feel the way I feel and I wouldn't vote on Fantasia. She may win, but I wouldn't buy her music. Her voice is just too sharp on my ears. I wish her well because she has a great personality and stage presence. All of them will get some kind of recording contract or singing opportunity.

I think Jasmine should go home tonight.

I predict the final two will be Fantasia and Diana.

Hawaiin votes...

Must have the entire state phoning constantly...no other explanation for Jasmine not being sent home tonight. Don't grieve for LaToya, btw, I think she'll be signed before the end of the month to a record label. Still, a damn shame that the voting isn't reflective of the talent in the contest.

Q

Well, welcome to American Idol, the land of the racist!

Does anyone still want to tell me that there isn't a conspiracy to keep another African american from winning the competition? Jasmine had the absolute worst performance of all the singers, yet she stays and Latoya who's always on the top of her game, gets sent home? This competition is not based on who has the best voice or ability to perform, it's about who they like and dislike. Since all the scandal that happened with Reuben and Clay, I don't think that there will ever be another black winner of American Idol.

It's an absolute shame that things have come to this. If this show survives another season, they have better change the voting rules, or I'm boycotting and never watching the show again. Hell, I might boycott it anyway!!!:sowrong: :sowrong: :sowrong:
