Just wanted to get some opinions on who people think the Pats will beat in the superbowl. my guess is Dallas.

Well, after only week 3, its looking clearer and clearer that its a pats/dallas superbowl.

We will find out how good the Pats are after they play a decent team.

Beating a terrible Jets team, a hapless Chargers squad and a horrible Buffalo team does not add up to much in my book.
Ill insult my favorite team and say the Pats could be the NFL version of Notre Dame this year the way Notre Dame played last year. Beat the teams they were supposed to, but lost to the other top tier teams.

Ill know more about the Pats after Oct 14th when they play in Dallas.

Until then, the Pats are one of the 3 best teams...all 3 in the AFC, Indi, New England, and Pittsburgh.

Rob I agreed whole heartedly with your post until you said Pittsburgh is one of the best teams. While they are 3-0, I use your point about the Pats, who have they beat? So far they've won 3 games they should have beat in a confused Cleveland team in week 1, a hapless Buffalo team in week 2, and finally an overmatched 49er team in week 3. Lets hold off on the reannointing the Steelers until they actually play someone.

If the Patriots have to resort to cheating to win games as they did in week one then maybe they shouldn't be placed in the top three of the AFC until they beat someone of quality. Like the Colts!!!

Cleveland beat Cincinnati. So that does say something. Cincinnati is better than the Jets or Bills.
Bills...yes its a wash. But the 49ers are a better team than last season and also are better than the Bills or Jets.
And Im not giving them anymore or less credit than at this point they deserve. I also put the Pats in the same category. But I could expand that and put Dallas in that top tier, they are looking pretty good.

But I certainly agree that Pittsburgh has yet to play a really good team either. Indi on the other hand has beat NO (terrible), Jacksonville and Houston which those last 2 wins are better than any of Pittsburgh's or New England's wins.

I really don't think we can judge any team here in Week 3. Remember '93 when Dallas started 0-3? Then won the Super Bowl. That's the fun of the NFL. More times than not, the teams that look strong at the start don't finish well, and some that have a rough go of it at the beginning wind up doing great things in the playoffs.

That being said, the Pats do look good, as usual. Of course, I also want to see them play a decent team. The game against Dallas should be a good indicator for both teams. Pittsburgh looks nice now, but they've been very injury-prone lately, so let's hope they can stay healthy.

Here's the thing. Why would you say that the Chargers are a "hapless" team? Could it be that the teams that beat them did so because they were better? Maybe there's a reason these "easy" teams are "easy", record-wise. They were beaten by a better team. That's one arguement. I was very impressed by Green Bay's victory...hell, all three of Green Bay's victories. It's very fashionable to say that they'll fold or have gotten lucky...but Brett Favre loks like he did ten years ago, and the team has some fire and belief in themselves. That alone can win a game that's close on paper. The intangibles. I think the NFC North is going to be interesting. Even Minnesota and Chicago, at 1-2, are far from out of it. Both have great defenses (never thought that Minnesota's strength would be reversed like that, being the powerhouse offense for the last twenty years or so) and can do some damage if they get their offenses in some kind of order. Baltimore won the Super Bowl after a five-game stretch of not scoring an offensive touchdown, and winning four of those games on defense. The Lions lost yesterday, but didn't look as bad as their usual selves and could make some noise. Going to be an interesting division.

And, the Pats have yet to beat an NFC North (Central) team in the Super Bowl. Not that that means anything now, but....

The Pats will probably be the one team that loks strong now that will look that strong in the end. They build their teams not on individual positional strengths, but how the players fit into their scheme, how multi-faceted they can be. The depth of the team, the ability of players to fill holes, is something that's kept them going all these years. Not so for some other teams.

I guess time will tell. Right now, the Pats, Steelers, Cowboys and Colts look unstoppable. But there could be some sleeper teams that we'll be talking about in a few months. Tennessee. Green Bay. Washington. San Diego if they get it together. The Niners might not be a fluke, but simply lost to a better Steelers team. Let's see how the Seahawks pan out.

It's very early.

I agree that anything can happen over the course of a season. i also picked those four teams you did as the best in the league. we will just have to wait and see, but as of now, if nothing happens to the Pats as far as injuries or emotional let downs, i dont see anyone beating them. :cool2:

Dallas looked really solid last night against the Bears. Romo has finally proven himself against an awesome defense. The Cowboys do however need to play a tad bit better in the first half.

If they stay healthy, they are Superbowl bound!!!

And yes...I am a Cowboy fan!!!:veryhappy:veryhappy

Dallas does look pretty sharp at the moment. Again, I'm dying to see the Pats/Boys game...should expose a lot in both squads.

Romo is looking really nice right now. I thought he was pretty good last year, but there were problems elsewhere. The big thing is going to be if TO can finally grow up and play nice with the other kids and not damage his own team. He's got the talent, he just needs to understand he's on a team, not a TV show.

I'm really interested in seeing how the Packers do over the next four or so games. I like all the parity we've had lately, but it would be something to see a good old-fashioned Cowboys/Packers championship game, eh?

I certainly think the New England at Dallas game in Oct could be a Super Bowl preview.
Certainly the game Im looking forward too.

Now only if we could get Jimmy Johnson to coach that game, and a whipped cream wrestling match between the Dallas and N.E. cheerleaders.

This game will be epic.

Rob

. Remember '93 when Dallas started 0-3? Then won the Super Bowl.

The Cowboys after 0-3 were a completely different team. Emmit Smith was back in the lineup after his holdout. I don't think there's a team this year that's 0-3 and waiting for a major franchise superstar to return.

As far as the Pats go they are now the Barry Bonds of the NFL. There will always be a "*" after anything they might accomplish.

Pats destroy cincy. who can stop this juggernaut! might as well give them the superbowl rings now. 😀

Another helpless victim falls to the mighty Patriots. it almost seems unfair to the rest of the league their so damn good. maybe next week, Dallas can put up a reasonable battle. :idunno:

Blow it out your you know what... if you needed to cheat once you are not that good!!! It is that simple. It was obvious to Bill Belichick you weren't that good or he would not have resorted to cheating. Your team's name is the New England Cheaters. A true Patriot wouldn't cheat.

Let it go man! its over! they have proved that no team is a match for them, even without cheating. god help the rest of the league. the Pats next helpless victim.........the cowboys.

I think i'll wait til they actually play the regular season...🙂

The Colts won it all last year with the so-called worst defense going into the playoffs...they beat KC and Larry (over paid) Johnson... they beat Baltimore and their joke of an offense, and defense many times now...they beat the choking Pats after they built up a decent lead with Tom (where's my child support check )Brady...yeah , i'll think i'll wait till the playoffs actually start🙂

The Colts are the only team in the league that have a legitimate shot of beating the Pats. the rest you can pile on the excrement heap. Dallas might give them a decent game, but will most likely end up the Pats next victim.

Just curious what everyone thinks the Patriots will beat Dallas by. i think Pats win by a field goal. any thoughts?

It will be the Dallas Cowpoops 34- the New England Cheaters 14. And as a matter of full disclosure, I hate BOTH teams. Probably hate Dallas more since I have built that hate since the 1970's. But since you asked, Dallas has the better team overall and they are at home. But what do I know. I didn't know that Bill Belichick had been cheating for the last seven years either. So as they say... once a cheater... always a cheater!!! Belicheck has screwed the New England franchise forever because every game they win everyone will always have in the back of their minds that he cheated before so he probably did it this time. He just didn't get caught. 😱

In all truth, my whole life i hated both teams. i like Dallas a bit now. ive gotten over the hatred thing. the Pats i started supporting when Brady took the helm. as for Dallas having the better team overall? you must be joking. i guess thats why their a big underdog at home, because their so good. :jester:
