Who's Going To Win Tonight

Any of us watching the ALCS know that Tampa has blown two great chances to win this series. First they blow a 7-0 lead on Thursday, and then last night lost to Boston at home.

I hate to say it: It looks like the young Rays are wilting under the pressure. I'd love to see Tampa win tonight, both because it would be so cool to see a new team in the World Series, as well as for my own fantasy purposes. (I have a vested interest in them winning, although not with real money). However, I just have this awful feeling that Tampa had their chance, and that the Red Sox are going to come up big tonight, especually with Dice K able to pitch in relief.

My call is: Red Sox win tonight. Any other thoughts?

I thought the Rays would have ended it by now but not I think the Sox will be going to the Fall Classic

I agree with you, Mitch. I`m rooting for Tampa, because I really hate what the big market teams have done to the game. The Rays have one of the lowest payrolls in baseball, and are trying to keep things affordable for their fans. But after what we`ve seen the past two games, I think its a good bet that the Red Sox will win this evening.

the rays didn't have any fans until these playoffs started. any past red sox vs rays games in tampa have more than 50% red sox fans in attendance. that's why all the fans have gimmicky cowbells, they are just bandwagon fans.

i do think the red sox will win tonight, though i'm a bit worried about lester as it seems he's been a bit overworked this year and is getting fatigued.

WOW!!! So their attendance raised over 30% during the course of the regular season because Red Sox fans went into their building. They had the HIGHEST increase in attendance of ANY team this season. They have fans. But just like every other team in America, if you DON'T win you DON'T draw at the gate.

Also for your information, the cowbells aren't a gimmick. They had the Cowbells since day #1 they came into this league. The only reason nobody knows that is because the Tampa Fans have never had a reason to use them.

On the one hand, the Red Sox now have the momentum.

On the other hand, "Momentum is as good as tomorrow's starting pitcher," and Lester is coming off a bad start.

So, who knows? I'll be watching.

so their average attendance went from about 12k to 17k, that's still a lot of empty seats for one of the best teams in a league. i was also commenting that the team's payroll was to keep things cheap for the fans. their low payroll has more to do with a lack of committment from the ownership. that may change after this season.
