now that the NBA is pretty much over (although with the Lakers, it wont ever end), time for the BEST time of year, FOOTBALL!!!!!!!! this is by far my favorite sport! it has a long, grueling offseason and soon, VERY soon, football will be back. what do you guys think?

for me, i know my 49ers will have a LONG, LONG year. i still dont know who we're going to throw the ball to, or hell, who's throwing it. Tim Rattay should be okay, but i am going to miss Jeff Garcia and Terrell Owens. say what you want, he was at least entertaining.

my predictions of finishes.

AFC North: Cincinnati Bengals. shocked? the Bengals should do well, even if they start Palmer. they will make the playoffs, but BARELY because they will be divison champs.

AFC South: Indianapolis Colts. Manning had a stellar year and will be even better. they learned a lot last year and was really close to going to the SuperBowl. they will be tough.

AFC West: Denver Broncos. yeah, the lost Clinton Portis, but Shanahan's system always produces a 1000 yard rusher out of nowhere. expect the same. the defense is much improved.

AFC East: New England Patriots. the champs got even better by adding Corey Dillon. bottom line, they are the team to beat.

NFC North: Green Bay. Favre doesnt have much time left, so this may be his swan song year. i dont expect the Packers to give up another 4th and 26 for as long as they live.

NFC South: tough one. i will go with the Bucs, with the Panthers right behind them. both teams will be solid and it will one punishing year.

NFC West: Seattle Seahawks. they also learned a lot last year and the rest of the division is pretty weak. only the Rams might threaten. MIGHT.

NFC East: Dallas Cowboys. forget Philly, the Cowboys will be the team to beat as much as i hate them. that's why they'll win. because i hate them. no other reason.

AFC Title game: New England vs Indianapolis
NFC title game: Green Bay vs Carolina

Superbowl: Indianapolis over Green Bay. Favre passes the torch to Manning.

anyone else have predictions?

My Beloved Dallas Cowboys will make a playoff run!! Look out guys, The Boys' are back in town! 😀

Getting ready around here. The Bears train here in the town I live in.Let the chaos begin.:wow: :whip: :yowzer:

i couldnt agree with prime time anymore. first of all you hit the nail in the head with New England being the team to beat this year! They should of lost against my dolphins last year if it wasnt for the damn marlins playing post season and mare slippin on the dirt, missing the Game winning field goal. Philly will be good. Dallas will be better. First off they both need to establish a run game. philly may have a better all around team, but parcells finds ways to win. Quentin Griffen..all i have to say when it comes to The Broncos. He will be the next 1000yd rusher..this kid has some potential in him to play well. the seahawks..yeah the rams have two good rbs now..stephan jackson and the already famous but getting a little old marshall faulk. I dont care how good of a draft san diego or oakland had..they still wont be that good. san diego might be a little better than oakland this year..but thats about it..neither team makes it in. THE BUNGLES..err i mean Bengals. Yeah im an ohio boy, but i am going to see Miami whoop them in their own stadium this september! The Bungles will have a good team, but they dont have that one-two running back combo they had with dillon and johnson. they will surprise a lot of ppl this year. cleveland pittsburgh and baltimore help make up this terrible afc north divison. Green Bay..now theres some boys who can play ball. whats with these midwestern teams anyways..got farve in wisconsin and you got peyton in indiana..man those two teams can both play some ball..watch out for them. I wonder how Joe Gibbs will do having Portis in the backfield. hes got Brunell and hes got some decent recievers but i dont see them doing too much. J-E-T-S, JETS, JETS, JETS!! who is on this team anymore?? i know pennington and moss. those two are lethal..but who is the running back? is it still curtis martin? they wont be much more than a 4rd place team(last) in the east. Them Patriots, my Dolphins and the bills round out the top. The Texans should be a team to just watch and see how they develop. Also watch the Lions and the Cardinals..may not be much..but you never know. a lot of offseason pick ups for them. DA BEARS....they have umm..A-train, T-Rex Grossman and a nice defensive. time will tell with this team on how good they may become. Carolina and Jacksonville.Carolina had a nice draft..very underrated, but they picked up some nice wrs. Jacksonville...well..they have fred taylor..and umm..yeah. The Vikings..Moss and Culpepper..nuff said..they just need a better defensive front..and maybe a linebacker or two like they used to have. DB's are just fine. Kansas city..these boys will once again come in..play well and not do crap in the post season. The Giants..ha. hahaha..peytons little bro eli and kurt warner arent gonna carry this team. I think ive said enough..maybe too much..but the picks that primetime has..id go with them anyday..nice picks bro ~Jeff

YEAH LETS GO GIANTS AND ANOTHER LOSING SEASON. 😀 LMAO

Apex, I'm afraid I am going to have to agree with you. when I am not looking forward to football at this time of the year, you know there is not much to look forward to.

LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, BOYS AND GIRLS. MAY I PRESENT THE CURRENT LAUGHING STOCK OF THE NFL (drumroll please..........) MY SAN DIEGO CHARGERS!

Preseason predictions rarely go all the way through the season, with unexpected injuries and flame-outs happening all the time. However, here's how I see things at the moment.

AFC East - The Pats are the team to beat, but I also have a gut feeling about the Jets this year.

AFC North - Cincy should continue getting better, which can almost guarantee a division title as the other three teams are in decline. Although...Pittsburgh could be a dark horse.

AFC South - The Colts take that last step to a Super Bowl.

AFC West - Kansas City still has the best team on paper. If they can parlay that into playoff victories, they could have a great year. Free agent aquisitions could make the Raiders a factor, but time will tell.

NFC East - As much as I hate to say it, the Cowboys are primed for a serious run. There is stiffer competition from the rest of the NFC however.

NFC North - Always a tough division to call. All four are featuring ageing stars and all four have been dissapointments. Green Bay continues to enjoy the benefit of a weak division, but I see Minnesota having a good year. A lot of defense has been picked up, and Mike Tice finally realizes that Moss can't win games by himself.

NFC South - New Orleans. Only because this division rotates its winners every year, so the Saints are a statistical certainty. Seriously, they have the best players at key positions. Only foul mistakes and injuries kept them from being competitive last year.

NFC West - Seattle. No doubt. They are ready to take the final step in a long road to respectability. They took Green Bay deep into overtime at Lambeau, and only a costly mistake gave the Packers a win. St. Louis will not be as good with Bulger, no matter what the press says. Every time a second-stringer takes over and has a good run, they flop as next season's starter. Remember Kelly Holcomb? Tommy Maddox?

This should be another great year, but statistically speaking, we may be in for a blowout Super Bowl. We're due. Ever since parity brought excitement back to the playoffs, we've alternated good and bad SB games: '97 - Broncos/Packers shootout; '98 Broncos/Falcons blowout; '99 - Rams/Titans classic; '00 - Raven/Giants embarrassment; '01 Pats/Rams cliffhanger; '02 Bucs/Raiders anihilation; '03 Pats/Panthers defensive classic. This year...we're due for a blowout.

I hope it's Seattle blowing out the Pats. 🙄

Umm..no...The CowGirls will suck this year!
They have no QB and ummm who is there running back again...

Whereas the Eagles have Kearse, Owens, McNabb...need I go on...
I think you will see my Birds in the Superbowl and win it this time!!!

I think the Redskins will take second in the division over the Cowgirls and the Giants...well need some help...(Sorry Giantfan, I know that has to hurt)

the loyal cheer

hey we may not go too far this season....then again
we might surprise some peeps but at least we hosting
the Super Bowl this year!....yippee!!! Go Jaguars!! 🙂

No tommy, the Eagles will choke again like they did last year, and the year before that, and the year before that, I could go on and on, but you get the picture.

AMERICA'S TEAM WILL RISE ABOVE THE ASHES AND RULE AGAIN!!!!😀

Quincy Carter is only gonna keep getting better, and our new running back, Julius Jones, looks to be the next emmit, baby. Bring on the season.

YYeeee Haaaaaa!!!!!!!!!

.......hey guys I am so with you on this one! I just love football, just like you guys. I agree with other posters that the Rams are going to do well this season. Tommy Smith looks like a good buy, and of course Junior is now fit again, and that will be like a new signing as he only played a handfull of games at the start of last season, as no doubt you will all recall.........what?.....er.....oh, I see! this thread is not about real football? and you are not talking about the real rams? the rams who can trace their history back over three centuries? .....

....sorry lads, my mistake, it seems you are talking about what we over here call "****** ball" where a load of colledge boys cover themselves in body armour and run off crying to momy if they chip their nail varnish.

Yes!!!....welcome one and all to the new football season!!! both sides of the pond.

p.s. mods.....please, no snotty E mails ok?...its what we call "Taking the piss".....so for christs sake chill out.

*begin sarcasm*thanks red, for your considerate post about Americas favorite sport. Im sure I speak for all of us Americans when I say that your post makes you brits look like real class acts. 😉*end sarcasm*

...I think the cowboys will go pretty far, but I see the colts winning it all. I think manning deserves it, to be honest.

Thats the spirit Kroky old boy!!!!......

.....coming right back at me with a devastating put down! you got me on the run with that bazzooker baby!!.....(why do I bother?)

I think red wants to see the cowboys win the superbowl this year....😀 😀

yes Kroky old chap.........

.....thats fine by me, in fact any of the Village People would seem appropriate winners for this sort of football!

I'm definitely ready for football season....pro and college football...it's my favorite time of year. 🙂

I'd love to say the Atlanta Falcons will return to the playoffs, but Mike Vick can't do it by himself....even if he stays healthy. At this point, with an untested new head coach (Jim Mora Jr), I'd be happy to see a 9-7 record....IMO 7-9 or worse is more likely.

On a more positive note, my Georgia Bulldogs appear to be a top-five college football team in 2004, with all the pieces in place for a run at the national championship. Head coach Mark Richt has definitely brought football excitement back to the "Bulldog Nation" missing since the days of Herschel Walker and Buck Belue over two decades ago.

FYI - My pre-season Super Bowl pick? New England appears loaded for a repeat with talent, experience, and a great coaching staff....who will be their opponent? IMO whoever wins the NFC East...I say the Eagles edge out Dallas and finally win the NFC championship, then get blown away in the Super Bowl by the Pats. Of course, if the past two surprise NFC champions (Carolina & Tampa Bay) are any indication, anything is possible this season.

Atl...vick needs price to come back and have a great season..and if i remember correctly..they drafted a pretty good WR for vick to throw to also..then you add in the power and speed of duckett and dunn..they should be a little better than last year

in my heart of hearts i know the bills have as much chance of winning the super bowl as i do of winning a trip to maui...but it would be nice...as far as i'm concerned anyone except the Pats can win..i get really tired of them winning so often (sorry ray)

im excited to see what new ways the lions will come up with to lose.

LOL!!! thats the best one ive heard yet!! they did make a couple aquisitions in the offseason..but not enough to make a difference. joey harrington and charlie rodgers just cant do it alone..you need a back and if i remember right..barry sanders retired and (snickers) i think its like james stewart in at running back..well maybe my homie Eddie George will sign with you guys and give you a decent running back.oops wait.. nah..he wants a team that in contention.
