This goes out to everyone, from the most hardcore comic book fan to those who fondly remember the Saturday morning cartoons from their youth. Have a favorite superhero? Name him/her here and tell us why you love them so much. More than one? Great! Any and all contributions will be appreciated.

For me, it was always Spider-Man, followed by the Incredible Hulk. I still remember picking up my very first comic book when I was 11 years old. Amazing Spider-Man #350, which featured Spider-Man vs. perennial Fantastic Four villain Dr. Doom. I was hooked for a few years after that before finally losing interest in reading the comics, though still maintaining my love for the character. What I loved about Spider-Man was that, beneath the cool powers and awesome rogues gallery, he was just your average guy. He struggled to pay bills, keep a date, and even take care of his elderly Aunt May. He was easy to relate to.

The Hulk was always my second favorite. Here you have a guy in Bruce Banner, struggling with his inner demons, and trying desperately not to lose control. Of course, it was an awful lot of fun when he did and had a serious throwdown with any number of other Gamma-powered (or otherwise) freaks. But the underlying core of it all was the struggle of one man to overcome. Also very easy to relate to.

So, there you have mine. I look forward to reading any and all responses. Have fun with this, guys and girls. :)

Ever since I saw that corny show in the 1970s it's been Wonder Woman!!! :smilelove

Batman - smart, baddass, somehow pulls off that suit. Doesn't say much but gets his point across.

Gambit - The Johnny Depp of X-Men IMO. Got wicked red eyes, always has an ace up his sleeve (pun intended), wears a trench coat, smooth with the ladies and somehow gets away with wearing pink.

And, he's not reeeally a superhero but could easily stomp anyone (IMO), in the DC or Marvel universe probably combined: Vegeta from DBZ.

Cold, ruthless, giant ego but can back it up, and again, can pull off a stupid costume PLUS has absurd hair.

Even during the TV reruns with Adam West...

Judge, jury, executioner...

Ah...I did love those Judge Dredd comics.

Then I saw the movie...:xlime:

And swiftly reverted back to the comics!! :woot:

Don't want to even think about the movie...

They could redo the film like 2000 AD with Judge Death. Naomi Watts could play Anderson...

I loved 'Spider-Man' until the movies ruined him for me (Thank you Sam Raimi and Tobey McGuire!)

I always thought Batman was cool (not only the themes and conflicts, but that he is just a man without powers)

But my alltime favorite HAS TO BE:

DEADPOOL!

I always thought he was the man, even before reading up on him. Now I KNOW he is.

I love Mary-Jane...the hottest comic book damsel ever!:firedevil

I read Naomi Watts and ran out to be first in line at my local theater then realized this movie hadn't been made yet. :cry1:

The Punisher. He does what a lot of us wish we could do.

Honorable mention goes to Captain Marvel (SHAZAM!). He intrigues me, because unlike the other heroes, he's only superpowerful part of the time.

I remember seeing a panel of her barefoot right after pulling off her boots...I wished I had that issue still.

For me, its been a toss up between Spider-Man, Iron Man and the Green Lantern ever since I was about 5 or 6 years old.

And Sam, I don't mean to nitpick with you, but Batgirl is the hottest comic book damsel ever! :woot:

Best....version....of.....ALL!!!!

This series was what made me a Spectre fan

And sorry, but Jim Corrigan was the Spectre. Hal Jordan's version SUCKED!!!

Anybody ever heard of a hero with the unlikely name of Kevin Matchstick?

How about Reid Fleming?

Superman sucks :omnomnom:

Superman is my favorite superhero. And General Zod we both know why you hate him.

You just can't get it right.

Growing up I was a big fan of the Fantastic 4. But after playing Marvel Ultimate Alliance I have developed a new respect for Deadpool.
