Why am I still "In the closet" about my tickling fetish?

Here's what brought it up this time; much to my amazement HUNDREDS of people have viewed the stories I've posted here, and a few have even read them(!)
A close friend of mine writes Sci-Fi fanfiction and has quite a considerable following; I want so much to tell her about my own little "success" but I just can't.
WHY can't I?

Why can't I open up about my fetish to my close friends? So much of my life is a secret, and I feel cut off in many ways even from my inner circle.

(There's no reason to tell my married male friends about my tickling fetish, but I hope to take things further with my female friend someday, and if that happens I'll HAVE TO "come out" to her)

So what's my problem? Or isn't there a problem?

Why can't I open up about my fetish to my close friends?

Because even your close friends don't need to know what you like to do in the bedroom, and you know it on some instinctual level.

You will be able to open up to the right person, at the right time. If you want to take things further with this friend of yours, then wait until you know for certain that's going to happen. THEN break the 'news' to her. But before then, or to anyone else... they don't need to know.

There is no problem. Honestly ask anyone around here, most of our close friends don't know. Maybe like one of them.

Open up to your friends on here, you'll start to feel better. Anyone these are the people that will appreciate your writing and your love of tickling.

Because you fear ridicule. For me it was always "I'd tell them, but it's such a silly thing, they'd just think it was dumb and then never let me forget it".

Least that was always my problem.

I don't know, is there a problem? You may have to ask yourself that. What makes you so nervous about telling her? Fear of ridicule, disbelief, maybe losing her as a friend?

There could be a lot of factors tying into why you are apprehensive about coming out with it. It's identifying them first and foremost that will help you eventually get past them. If you don't know what you're working with, than you've got no starting point.

I don't think there's a problem. If you want your friendship to develop into something more than honesty is a great starting point.

I don't think it's a problem. I'm one of those kind of people who doesn't keep secrets from her friends, but this is just one thing they don't need to know. I "came out" to my boyfriend, and he really is the only one who is on a need to know basis.

I guess I'm just rehashing what everyone else has said - when the right person comes along, you'll be able to share it with them. But until then, you've got us! We appreciate your stories, and we can already understand you. 🙂

i dont think there is a problem....

not many people do tell others in their "vanilla" world about their tickling fetish... scared of rejection... perfectly normal... if you want to persue things with her- start out casually maybe with a few quick tickles here and there..... not sure everyone is different...

if you two are close, then you shouldnt fear opening up to her- maybe not fully in depth about how into it you are, but you can certainly open up your world... if she writes sci-fi i dont think tickling will weird her out 🙂 just tell her you have a bunch of crazy people following your stories 😉 <kidding about the crazy part people.....>
