Here in Philadelphia we just had something happen that can make you just want to scream. Last year People magazine featured a 18 year old guy who was from a poor and bad section of the city with gang ties and heading down the road to a dead end but when he fathered a child he knew he had to make a complete 180 and started back to school to better himself and to be able to provide for his newly born daughter. Well 2 weeks ago 2 of his old friends shot him to death and now this poor little girl lost her daddy. Now I'm not a very relioius person but being the time of year it is I just wanted to ask anyone from this forum that reads this just say a small pray for this little girl and his family not to post it but do it any way you feel is most fitting to you.

the problem is that bad things tend to happen more to good people than otherwise. and i heard about that. such a shame. wonder where the little girl will end up? i would so love to adopt her.... i'm sure, however, that she will get plenty of offers in that town. but dang he was starting his life anew. its so weird but these things do seem to happen. thanks for posting this, Deuce, i will say my own prayer..

you just hear more about good people having bad things happen to them. Bad people suffer just as much if not more than good people. It's just in different ways.

Think of it like this, when you do things in the past, it tends to catch up with you.

I hadn't heard about that; what an ironic tragedy. 🙁 I wish his family, especially his daughter, all the luck in the world.

Yes, it's a shame that he was killed at a time of his life that he was trying to turn things around and take responsability for himself. Yes, I pity his child for what she now faces for the rest of her life.

But, do I feel like what happened was undeserved? No, I don't.

Bad things happen to good people for a reason: the good people do bad things. When someone spends years drug-running and laundering money, then they decide to turn themselves around, that's a wonderful thing, but that doesn't mean they don't deserve what's coming to them.

Did this man deserve death, you might ask? I cannot say. I do not extensively know his background, or the not-so-moral decisions he may have made in his lifetime. However, I strongly doubt that he made up for all his previous grievances, and had something negative coming his way.

I was always taught, not only by my parental units but by life itself, that what goes around, comes around, whether the punishment fits the crime or not. If you make a decision, good or bad, you need to be prepared to accept the repricussions, because all actions have consequences, be they equal or not.

I do not pray for this man. I pray for his daughter, that she not suffer the same fate as her father, and that she make better life choices, and instead lead a productive, civilized life.
