why bird feathers are rarely used during sessions

Im the biggest anti feather guy out there. pretty much a completely useless tool.
Well, there is the actual issue that possession of feathers from bird species can be illegal if They are protected or dangerous species. I thought that was going to be what someone would post.

Historically, it derive from the use of parts of animals, such as brightly colored feathers from birds, were often used to adorn clothing, Since a lot of migratory birds, which have an international range, are brightly colored, they’re protected under federal endangered species laws.

That is good in a way!

I think of them more as a teasing tool than something to actually get any hard tickling done. They are useful and have their place, but don't expect screaming hysterics from the use of them.

This is true, but why would one want only screaming hysterics though? No one likes to see helpless giggles?

I think a good way for me to explain the greatness of feathers is so kinda correlate it with my profession, massage therapy.

Imagine going to a massage appointment and someone immediately starts shoving an elbow into your back, off rip? It's not very fun, because your body isn't expecting any touch yet, let alone an elbow drop. That's why massage therapists will put a massage medium(oil, lotion, cream, etc) on their hands, and then apply it to the body, using a gentle pressure, just to get your body 'warmed up' and then you gradually apply more and more pressure till you hit the desired amount of pressure.

Feathers are very much the same thing. It's not meant to be the meat and potatoes of the tickling session, it's the way to get the body ready for the torment it's about to get. You CAN just immediately go into intense fingers into the ribs, but for me, I don't think that's as satisfying. You use the feathers to start getting their body ready. Difference is, gentle pressure in massage is welcome, gentle tickling is a bit harder to deal with because it's one of those "either tickle me or don't, but stop teasing me" scenarios. The gentle tickling seems more like a mental game vs just straight up physical. So I personally love feathers.

Not only that, but as a foot guy, myself, feathers are VERY effective on toes, I feel like with that the more gentle, the more torturous

I agree. I realize what everyone else is saying, and they are fair arguments. For me though, I have either gotten no reaction at all or "it feels good". So I dont see the point. If I want to tease someone, there are much better tools I can use to lightly tease someone while slowly breaking through their defenses and driving them over the edge. I will say the other end of the feather has occasionally netted me some decent results, but there are much better tools out there.

The feather to me is kind of like coming to Philadelphia and getting a cheesesteak from Pats or Genos. Theyre tourist spots. The feather is like a tourist's tool. Either for Hollywood silliness or for someone just passing through the tickling community.
