Why cant we edit our posts?

I wanna know why we cant edit our posts? If we make a typing mistake or whatever we cannot go back and change it thus making an imperfect post if you know what I mean

Look under your post. There is a line of buttons.

Two in from the right, is one that says 'edit'

click it and you can edit your post.
