Why do you think that everybody knows how to tickle?

I mean bad or well, into or not into tickling... it seems that if you say "tickle her/him!" well, they know how to do it!

Don't you think?
...

I'm not sure if you are asking if people automatically know how to tickle or not. I can tell you that my husband doesn't know how at all. We actually asked somebody we know to show him and it helped somewhat. From my limited experience, many people think that tickling somebody means to grab the lee in the ribs as deep as they can and commence to tickling. Most don't seem to know or realize that the best tickling comes from different touches at different times.

I always thought about how and why we're all ticklish. Now I think it's just something God gave us to do to entertain ourselves and have fun without material possessions.

Yes- I know what you mean by your question in the first post in this thread. However, NOT everyone knows really... as someone said, lots of people have a very vague idea when it actually comes down to it.

Sort of. It's kind of like saying "Everyone knows how to give a massage." It's technically true, in that most people who speak English know what the word means, and most people can sort of do it, but speaking as someone who doesn't do it very well, it's definitely still a skill.

I think that everyone knows how to tickle in that limited sense mainly because 1) people know what the word means and 2) it's something that most people learn how to do in childhood. They learn to associate the word with the action and the sensation because other people do it to them, they see it done, and they do it themselves as kids.

i have watch clips where the male/female are no good at tickling

I read an article once, that I tend to believe, that suggested that it's useful behavior for primate children learning how to fight, to improve their survival skills. It makes them laugh, which encourages the other person to keep doing it, and keeps it at the level of "play," while still giving the other person a strong incentive to find a way to make it stop.

Tickling is like riding a bicycle in that:

-most people learn to do it as children

-it is a reasonable assumption that anybody knows how to do it at some minimal level

-that assumption is sometimes wrong

-the real experts can sneer at the compartively naive and unskilled efforts of the masses

Perfect answer. I couldn't think of a better comparison / metaphor.

I believe Redmage, MTP Jeff, and Milagros have the answer to this one...

My wife was not into tickling like me until I communicated my "kink" to her... Lucky for me, she had gotten a lot of practice with the family when she was a kid... This combined with the fact she has a perfect personality for it and enjoys developing her tickling skills(she's more a ler than a lee) has made her a perfect convert. And thanks to those traits (and my proding), she has become quite good at it...

Babe, you're right. Some people with no experience being tickled themselves think digging their figers into your flesh is the way to go. Some men even do it to our feet. That doesn't tickle. It just hurts.

But I believe everyone can learn. It's not too difficult. I like marzbarz theory that God gave us a way to entertain ourselves without material possessions. But does God give us the bondage gear?

Love,
Jean

But, I mean It less probable that nobody ever had tickled you and you don't know how to do it? I mean even the non ticklish people know something!
