Why feet? Why not hands?

Just to clarify, the title of this thread might sound a bit accusatory and rabble-rousing - it isn't, honest. 😛 I said it like that to hopefully attract people.

Anyway, the question is just that - why feet? I notice a huge number of people into feet, but almost nobody into hands in the same way. You could argue that we're all hand-fetishists in a way, but that isn't what I mean. I mean when people want to see bare feet, foot-shots, feet in action, etc, why do hands never get the same treatment?

I'm guessing it has to do with accessibility. Feet are often covered and you can almost never touch them without a good reason. Hands however are constantly on display and far easier to get a hold of without appearing dodgy. Is this right, or is there something else about feet that I'm missing?

Again, not an accusation, I'm not judgmental, it's just a thought that struck me, and I figured it would spark some interesting discussion.

most likely reason why there aren't that many hand fetishists is probably because we see it on a daily basis and nobody really wears gloves all that often.
Heck, a good example is if you go to a nude beach just to see the girls...soon enough, the novelty of the idea fades away pretty quickly since everyone's naked and it doesn't feel as special anymore, it's a frequent and common occurrence all around you and you quickly adapt to what is considered the norm there.

I think that applies with practically anything else that can be considered a fetish or hobby or just a simple interest in general...the more you see of something, the less exciting it gradually turns out to be.

It's feet because, well I dunno. Feet are kind of one of those weird body parts, while hands are those that most people don't think of because we use them so much. I don't know what causes it, but I'm guessing it's similar to what caused the tickling thing, though probably not as extreme. These are just guesses.

I think that I would agree that it is the commonality of hands. Feet are not often seen publicly. I'm not really a foot guy as some others here are, but they can be quite attractive (when they are clean). I'm not a fan of the dirt.

I am sure that there are hand fetishists out there. There is a fetish for everything nowadays.

I for one have no particular attraction to feet but am very much into a woman's hands (and her arms). I don't know that I'm a fetishist, insofar as hands are not the primary or sole vehicle for my sexual interest and gratification, but I am totally and distractedly into women's hands and arms; they are as attractive and enticing to me as boobs are for a lot of straight guys. Meanwhile, I never even glance in the direction of a woman's feet.

And it's a totally great preoccupation to have, because like people have said already--unlike feet (or boobs) hands are always on display! It's totally convenient and endlessly appealing. But you still get the little frisson of discovery when the weather warms up and the short sleeves start to come out.

As physical fixations go, if you're picking one out at the brain store in the Quirks and Hang-Ups aisle, I would recommend hands to anybody.

Well having always been in engineering, and forever messing with motor cycles and cars my hands are a mess, would you like all that grease, oil, and dirt, over your soles, i mean if i decorate i fetch the old paint off with my bare hands, theres rough and then me :blush

I think it has to do with the fact that feet have their own clothing. And for women the clothing for feet can be pretty sexy. Stockings and pumps for instance are very sexy to men and this helps create the fetish. I think one of the reasons I prefer stocking feet over bare feet is because you rarely get to see a woman in stockings without shoes. Their ment to be worn with shoes because their so delicate. Yet, at the same time, when a woman is wearing stockings her shoes come off a lot more easily due to the slipperiness of the nylon or silk and the fact that women's dress shoes are usually slip ons. This adds a little vulnerability to the mix. And if her feet are ticklish, it becomes even more of a bonus.

Senshi, I think you pretty much hit on the answer in your third paragraph. The feet being a more remote, less accessible area. It's human nature to want what we get the least of.

Also, feet are far more ticklish because for most of us, the feet stay in shoes all day long and aren't accustomed to any concentrated stimulus. Hands are almost always exposed and we use them all the time to feel things, so they are more accustomed to stimulation than the feet.

Just the same, I still like my wife to bend back the fingers of my hand as far as they will go without being painful, while she uses her other hand to lightly scratch the stretched skin of the palm. Might sound strange, but try it some time. It feels really good.

Being a life-long ticklee, I always take notice of a woman's hands. I don't know if I'd call it a fetish, but I would definitely say that some hands look way better to me than others.

I think feet, handling someone's feet, is slightly transgressive. You're crossing a boundary. I read a poem by a female author who said in one of her poems that being barefoot with someone was more intimate than being naked. And AFAIK she wasn't a ticklephile.

Beats me; I'm a fan of hands. I wouldn't go so far as to call it a fetish, but if someone has nice hands I'll definitely notice and be appreciative. They're such an important part of our bodies, after all (well, really, what part of us ISN'T important? But you know what I mean, I hope); we use them so often! I remember a professor of mine who had the most interesting hands; out of everything else he had going for him, it was his hands that I noticed the most, because he made all sorts of really graceful gestures when he spoke.

Because bare feet are a rarer sight. Because hands don't smell so strong as female soles (especially when she wore tight footwear). Because it's the tickling weak point of many women. Heck, there must be more reason why I prefer feet.
