wierd pop-up on my desktop

Today I got a popup on my desktop, a program window not a webpage, that had the heading "messenger service" and gave me a message about being able to get 25 free cigars on some website. I used ctrl-alt-delete to look at the process managing it, and it was called csrss.exe. When I tried to kill it I got a message that it's an essential program. I looked into this online, and I can't tell if it's a virus, worm, or some kind of sick joke on the part of microsoft. Does anyone know anything about this thing?

I didn't know worms liked to smoke 🙄
