I remember this video...it's Michael Sembello, whose 15 minutes of fame was "Maniac" from Flashdance. 1980s music was ripe with cheddar, Gorgonzola, and muenster. Total cheese shop.

He was also the session guitarist for a lot of Stevie Wonder's albums as well. I for one salute you Michael Sembello for your masterpiece of 80's cheese!

As someone who grew up in the 80's, that looks perfectly normal to me.

In my opinion...it was possibly the "Techno Pop" that was the strangest, to me. I can't really name certain songs (because I hated it)...but certain "bands"..like "Flock of Seagulls" come to mind. I just remember it being used so much in movies (the original "Terminator" and "Beverly Hills Cop") are a couple that come to mind. I actually didn't mind a few "strange bands"..like "Devo" or "The B-52's"..because their brand of "Techno" sure livened up some dead parties..back in the day!!! And I guess that's what most of today's "club music" (crap) may be an offshoot of. But I'm sorry..being the Rock & Roll "purist" that I am..I don't think that "melody rearrangement" and "computer manipulation"..by pushing a few buttons..constitutes a "musician"..no matter what the times are!!! Guess I'm showing my age, huh?? LOL!!!

But getting back on topic..I have to say my most enjoyable "weird or crazy"..but definitely "funniest" 80's music/videos..came from "Weird Al"!!! His parodies were GENIUS!!! "Eat It".."Fat".."Like a Surgeon".."My Bologna"..and my favorite.."Amish Paradise"!!! It was a nice departure from where "classic rock" had sunk to..with all the "hair bands" that sprung up..at that time!!!

Anyway...that's my two cents on the subject.
