Will a toenail grow back????

Hi guys not to sound gross, but my wife dropped something on her big toe awhile back and has since lost the nail. It has started to grow back I'd just like to know if it will grow properly and be the same as before??? As a guy with a foot fetish you can understand my concern lol. Anybody ever had this happen?

Big toenails do grow back, but they take a very long time. She didn't damage the nail bed, so it should come back totally healthy.

I dropped an artillery round on my foot about a year ago and they had to remove my big toenail (dont get me started on that) and after about six months it grew back. It doesnt look quite normal but if she paints her toenails you wont notice the discoloration in the tip anyway. Just take note that it doesnt come back ingrown that can be painful.

Depending how much was lost, it might not grow back exactly the same. You can check with a doctor to see if there might be any options for directing the growth (I'm thinking something like a mini cast for the toe)

Broken Bones?

Ow omg that sounds painful. Just looking at my own nails I wonder how they actually stay on.
Think about it... It is just skin underneath, and it is barely "connected" to the nail really
(at the base it is) but it grows to hang off ones finger tips.
How Is the skin natural glued to them? Lol anyway...

I am pretty sure it will grow back!, but it depends on additional damage.
My mom slammed her thumb in a car door when she was a teenager, and lost her thumbnail. But now her thumbnail grows with a raided line across it (parallel to her finger). That is only because she broke the bone.
So as long as she did not brake her toe, it should be ok.
But if you are not sure, maybe get an X-ray to see what you should do to help it heal properly.

Half of my big toe nail is slowly growing back after becoming torn off during a badminton match. Looks okay, not much different to before, but the other half of the nail is much longer as the short bit isn't long enough to cut yet so I can't level them off!

I don't know how I damaged it, but my big toenail is growing back very slowly. It can take a full year for a damaged toenail to fully grow back.
