I just heard of a country in Europe (sorry, can't remember which one) has started a new type of funeral service where the body is freeze-dried and then shook up into a powder which can then be used to help plants grow etc. I think that way seem's to be the most enviromental friendly way of disposing of bodys plus it helps plants grow as well. Any thoughts on this?

i suppose to each their own i however am personally against cremation. and i dont want to get into religious beliefs as to why i do. but for those who choose cremation, at least this would be a way to help out the environment.

"When I die, don't bury me
In a box in a cemetery.
Out in the garden would be much greater
And I could be pushin' up homegrown tomatoes."

Sweden.

The most environmentally friendly way to do it is all natural - just drop your body off in the forest when you're done with it. I completely fail to understand why a simply burial (no casket, just dig a hole and toss it in) isn't the standard way of disposing of bodies - I mean, it's not like the soul is there anymore, right? Just toss it away - after getting all the useful parts out for science and so forth. I do not understand the casket thing at all.

Still, this method is a step closer to that. 🙂

I think this way is probably no more or less environmentally friendly than cremation as carbon is needed for plant growth and any gasses or substances you realise in to the atmosphere through burning the body will probably be matched by the freeze drying process (don’t know how there doing it but if for example if it uses electricity a fossil fuel is probably being burnt somewhere to generate it).

Personally I quite like the idea of cremation, but whatever is cheapest really I don’t want to be a lot of trouble AFTER I’ve died. Thinking about it maybe I’ll donate my body to medical research that sounds fun. 🙂

lmao marky you have many years before you must decide something like that.

Cemetaries take up way too much space. I'm going for cremation with the ashes tossed in the Chesapeake Bay. Also would like to have "Tin Cup Chalice" by Jimmy Buffet playing to send me off!

As for tossing bodies in the ground- I think there might be a health/ground water issue with that.

I dunno, being stuffed and sat at the kitchen table of the home of my grandkids sounds like a lot more fun.

I'm lovin it

Yeah...instead of cremation, I think I'd like to be french fried. 😀
