Hey gang, it's The Sean Man, with a favor to ask.
Working in the media, I was used to seeing and hearing about cancer all the time. People being diagnosed, treatments being tested, groups raising money, etc. I had many friends and family who had cancer. The odd thing is, though, like many people, i never thought it would happen to me.
I was diagnosed with testicular cancer in January of 2001. Two surgeries followed (to describe the second one....if you saw the Tom Green Cancer Special, remember the "this is going to SUCK" operation he had? I went through the same thing) and six weeks of chemotherapy after which I was declared cured. I only have two more years of post-cancer testing left.
During my chemo, I was invited to join my local Relay For Life fundraiser for the American Cancer Society. I have been with them ever since, this year serving as Vice Chair of the event.
The relay is a twenty four hour event, where teams camp out around a large track and walk to raise money. One of the new features of this year's relay is the opportunity for people to make donations through the relay website.
And this is where I ask you for the favor. If you know someone who with cancer, or would like to honor someone you've lost to cancer, please feel free to make a donation. Either to the relay in general or to my team, any donations would help the cause.
Go to wbti.com, at the link at the bottom of the page. On the main page, there is a link to the Relay website. You can make a general donation, or donate to my team, WBTI.
It may seem strange to ask for money this way, but as I found out after 11 years of helping various charity organizations, it doesn't hurt to ask. Thank you for your help.
