Well here it is almost 1:00AM in the Midwest and Puig just singled in Muncy for a 2-2 tie and we are headed to the 14th inning. Muncy reached 2nd on a pop foul that sent Nunez into the seats allowing Muncy to advance and then scored on a wild throw to first trying to retire Puig. I'm sure you people on the east coast are a little blurry-eyed if you are still awake watching this. According to Joe Buck "We are still going." Game started at 5:10 local time and it is now 11:05 PM, so the game is going on 6 hours!
The Dodgers are down to David Freese on the bench and the Red Sox have only a pitcher available. I am looking at the remaining games and it says Game 4 starting LATER ON TODAY at 7:09PM. That puts a lot of pressure on both teams, both on the personnel and how to use their bullpens. They just held the 14th inning stretch.
I realize this is Friday evening and so the game, for broadcast and rating purposes, it is in the evening, but ending (or not) at 2:00AM EST is ridiculous, especially if they are playing games back to back. Joe Buck just announced that this ties for the longest game in post-season history as far as innings and longest game in terms of time. He even said "I'm too tired to do the math." I agree, I'm almost too tired to watch.
