Worst Hit Song Ever?

And while we're on the subject of horrible 70's songs I'm going to have to add "Seasons in the Sun"........blimey!!!! The entire Jewel ouvere should be included as well!

God I hate that song and there's also a song and all they sing is "Da Da Da" (and no this is not by Sting)....I think Volkswagon used it in a commercial a few years back.

And also equally annoying is Deep Blue Soemthing's "Breakfast at Tiffany's" and each time I hear that song, I feel compelled to break something.

Another cring-inducing `70's song was that "He's Not Heavy, He's My Brother" turd. Ugh.

Hey Dr. Bill!

I must confess to singing that song at karaoke...maybe it was the copious amounts of tequila I imbibed...maybe it was because they didn't have "Billy, Don't Be A Hero"....either way, the rednecks gave me a standing ovation.

The Sean Man

Okay, I've got it! "Big Yellow Taxi", by Vanessa Carlton. Y'know, "They paved paradise, and put up a parking lot...". Worstest song in existence. I'd rather hear "Inna Godda D'Vita" as whistled by Gilbert Godfried with a kazoo up his arse.

Probably Jukebox Hero by Foreigner. That song(and Foreigner in general come to think of it)represent everything wrong with rock music in the late 70s/early 80s.I realize I've now likely made myself a lifelong enemy of all the Foreigner fans out there.

Both of them.

The more I think about it, it's definitely "I Got My Mind Set On You," by George Harrison. His next hit, "This Is Love," was really bad too.

Another song I forgot was "Owner of a Lonely Heart" by Yes. That song reeked.

Any music that Boy George had anything to do with is a wreck 🙄

Culture Club rocked..... now had you said The Cure, I would have agreed with you.

Songs that I hate

I cannot stand the "pre-packaged, teeny-bopper, flavor-of-the-second, sugar-coated commerical fads" which include Brittney Spears, N*Stynk, The Back-Entrance Boys, Spice Girls (don't even get me started on them, William Hung (your 15 minutes are over as of...... now), 98 Degrees, any kind of rap, and anything since Sammy Hagar left Van Halen.....

BTW...Sammy is back with Van Halen and on tour. My g/f Majestic got me tickets for an August show!!! Can't wait.

peace out,
daddy

Guess I should stay on topic....I hated that song that said something like "It might have been better if we slept together..so never, say never"...or something like that...lol

peace out,
daddy

"I might have liked you better if we slept together" ? I ahve that on CD

Marcarena
Girls Just Wanna Have fun by Cyndi Lauper
All Night Long by Lionel Ritchie
Take on Me by A-ha

Okay, maybe I'm going to sound like a real traitor, because this song put a lot of food in my mouth in the 1970's. I may have told some on here that my father used to be Kiss' business manager from 1973 to 1980. One bad song by them, even though the beat is catchy, is "Rock and Roll all nite". I mean, the meaning of that song makes life sound just like a fun party. Rock and roll all night, and party every day? When does one work Gene, Ace, Peter, and Paul? If life were only that fun in real life!

Mitch

I'm VERY surprised that none of you have mentioned any songs by Michael Bolton.........

Such dark times for us then.........

But then again, we have even more no-talent-assclowns in the music industry these days.

YES!!!! I heard that Van Halen is coming to Dallas this September! And no David Lee Roth! Whoo Hoo!

I could not stand "Diamond Dave".

well i am going to have to say that song by aqua " barbie girl " that song is so stupid it makes me wanna hurle.

the damned YMCA song, it is cool and all but you hear it more than once it just makes you wanna throw the radio

There should be a separate thread started just on the atrocities that Micheal Bolton has deemed on the music world. Starting with his bastardization of some fine r'n'b songs from the 60s.

Sammy Hagar is a ok singer and has done some good songs with Van Halen but c'mon, David Lee Roth had much more charisma and a sense of humor. Those first 5 VH records he sang on are classics.

Even if he is an a-hole.

Did anybody mention "Sister Christian" from Night Ranger? Or "I Can't Fight This Feeling" from REO Speedwagon. YUCK!!!

Total wimpoidness!!:disgust: :disgust: :disgust:

For the record, that "my name is Michael" song Drew and I think Ticklemaster were both bitching about is titled "Playground In My Mind" by Clint Holmes, who later was rewarded for his efforts by becoming the music director on Joan Rivers' short-lived talk show. As I painfully recall, it got rotated like four or five times an hour on the WABC playlist back in July of '73, which is certainly enough to have someone call 9-1-1 for a straitjacket.
I hereby nominate two Bette Midler cuts...'From a Distance', which is both annoying and awful, and 'Wind Beneath My Wings' (orignally recorded by country artist Gary Morris). I'm reasonably certain that it was the latter that finally pushed that maniac over who went into the McDonalds in Killeen, Texas, and killed everyone with a rifle.
'Sometimes When We Touch' by Dan Hill. His next effort, a duet with Vonda Sheppard, "Can We Try", is equally as horrible.
'Longer' By Dan Fogelberg. As grotesque as you can imagine...
Today's question of the day: WHO BUYS THESE FRIGGIN' THINGS?
