Worst WWE gimmick ever?

Shem, you don't have to worry about another triple threat match, because the title will be decided in the Elimination chamber, but don't be surprised to see either HHH escape with the belt, or Batista turning on Evolution. One of those two scenarios will definitely happen😀

I don't know if this is the worst but it's one I refrence to my wrestling buddies and usually get smaked for it...anyone remember the ONE match of Ding and Dong? They were two clowns...came out one time at a pay-per-view, got killed and never came back. Everytime thereafter that a new tag team was being introduced I would yell that it was going to be Ding & Dong!

Also on my list was the day in college when they intriduced the Undertakers manager. Mr. Bearer. I swore to my roommate that if they said his first name was Paul I would never watch wrestling again...they did...and I still watch occasionally...lol.

The Gobbledygooker was Hector Guerrero. Perhaps the rumor arose from the fact that Owen played another masked wrestler, the Blue Blazer, for a while.

Hmmm, I remember those days. I saw a video of Wrestlemania V when the Blazer lost to Mr. Perfect, and you could tell easilly it was Owen under the hood, because his hair straggled out and you could see all round his eyes.

When the brought the character back shortly before his tragic death it was a much tighter version, because of the line about it being a new Blazer.

After seeing last night's episode of RAW.......Now I'd have to say the current angle involving Muhammed Hassan is one of the worst.
Only in the fact that the "character" trashed our troops overseas.
That was just going too far.....even if the whole idea was to put "heat" Hassan's heel character.

It's like they WANT the guy to end up hanging from a tree somewhere. He (and Khosrow Daivari) are either incredibly brave, desperate for work, dumb as stumps, or some combination thereof.

I give it two months max before some fan jumps the barricade to go after him.

And you guys are complaining about Hassan? They did worse when Sgt. Slaughter switched to the other side... wait until they put some more heat in this

Well, I think the comments made on RAW monday are hitting a lot deeper than the Sgt. Slaughter tirade from years back because of 9/11 and the realism of the fighting going on overseas. Plus we're losing a lot of good people to this war everyday.
And I don't like this whole "Us Against Them" angle. Raciscm, in any form, including the entertainment field is just wrong.
I've been following WWE wrestling for 20 years and I think Vince is really pushing some unecessary buttons this time.

Drew

I know, Drew, but look at it this way. The WWE needs ratings, and it was slipping. It has started to rise again, and maybe putting this angle over will bring the heat needed to get the ratings to what they once were. If they do it right, it just might work😀

Yes, but at the cost of fueling the whole muslim hatred problem in the U.S. following 9/11? Not worth it.

It's a bit like tabloid journalism. Never mind the truth or the effect your bullshit stories have on people, it's papers sold that counts.

Looks like you people are starting to realize why I started this thread to begin with. Vince should have washed his hands of this in the beginning. He has too much talent and too much business sense to get involved in something this low.

I agree, Meems, but people should know by now that the WWE is 'sports entertainment' and really shouldn't take it too seriously. Like I said earlier, if its done right, it just might work😀

Honestly and personally, I was hoping Mick Foley would kick the crap out of that guy for interrupting him. Ah well, can always dream...

As for the vacated title - Good on Bischoff, for once! Standing up for himself instead of following someone else's orders, that's a change. I just hope Triple H doesn't get the title by unfair play... although that might be possible. Heck, it IS possible. Somehow I also expected Eric to announce Snitsky in the mix... but he'll have his own problems with Kane... heh heh...

(Disclaimer: gg25 knows jack about Raw because she doesn't get cable/satellite)

imho, i don't think they'd involve snitsky in the vacated title thing...he would have to have more time under him...i think, the ones that would be involved in my opinion: Benoit,Orton,Edge,Batista and of course Hunter...but it wouldn't be like the match where the title was vacated..there would be a clear winner and most likely it would be orton...then he and edge would continue with their storyline with edge trying to beat out orton and vice versa until Triple H comes back from his book dealings and movies and whatever else the man is up to....and H will ultimately end up with the title again, once all is said and done.

I can't wait for the Batista "face" turn... They seem to be playing it right, they made Orton change to face too quickly IMO.

A walk down memory lane to other horrible gimmicks:

T.L. Hopper, the wrestling plumber
Tito Santana as El Matador
The Goon, complete with the skate-looking boots
Abe "Knuckleball" Schwartz, the Most Violent Player (baseball character Vince rolled out during the 1994 strike)
Xanta Klaus, the evit Santa
Mark Jindrak almost being recycled into Lex Luger's old Narcissist character
Tommy Rich as a member of the Full Blooded Italians
The Demon (the Gene Simmons character)
Eugene

If you love this garbage, check out a book called "Wrestlecrap: the very worst of pro wrestling". Great to flip through while, well, taking a crap.

Crash Holly. Decent bloke but about as appealing as a dose of the clap.

Or Glen Jacobs's (Kane) old character of Isaac Yankem, the wrestling dentist.

I've always hated Hillbilly Jim. Sad a character so popular could never get a title shot for any belt
