Been kind of a bummer the last few weeks in the wrestling world.
Recently, Hawk of The "Road Warriors" passed away, and it was announced last night that Crash Holly was found dead. Still haven't heard of what causes but both these guys were under 50 years old...and very entertaining.

Drew

damn thats terrible. I am a huge wrestling fan. I thought crash holly was pretty healthy. Wrestling takes its toll on the body. People may think its fake but the pain is real. Getting slammed into the mat. Perfoming a wrestling move the wrong way.

Yeah, I just found out on their website. Too many good people are dying too soon. I wish they could do more to help these guys

Crash Holly died??....Geez I thought Crash was about to wrestle in a match on a PPV...but maybe I heard wrong

HAwk and Crash gone? 😱 Damn, so many of the guys are dropping like fly lately. 🙁

Yeah, wrestling is a tough business. I'm a part-time ring announcer and play by play man for a wrestling group here in my area, and these guys really bust their butts (no pun intended) to put on a good show for the crowd. Hearing about their stories about all the injuries they've sustained over the years, you have to have a lot of respect for the boys.

You certainly should do, but there's plenty who don't. 😡

Yeah. Many of the wrestlers I work with can also tell umpteen stories of people's reactions to their profession. People can be so ignorant.

Did you see the thread where I shared my moment of fame? I think it was one that Lazarus posted quite heavily in about respecting the business and Neutron basically said they were all a bunch of pussies.

Unfortunately, no, I didn't see it. Most of the wrestlers I'm friends with are really nice guys, but I still wouldn't want to get in a fight with them. There are others, though, that 'live their gimmick'. They act like their in-ring persona ALL the time, even in public. I tried to say hi to one guy at a summer festival, and he drove me off with a wrestling-speak tirade. When I told this to the other wrestlers they laughed and said that's just the way he was.

Heh heh. Sounds like a nasty version of Dallas Page. He got into the business late, but made it because he "lived" his character. Don't think he was an arsehole about it though.

Yeah, this guy was a jerk in the ring and out. But, what ever gets you psyched for a match in the ring , I guess.

Ticklish Sinner-- It is Bob "Hardcore" Holly that will be on the upcoming PPV. "Crash" Holly used to be his tag team partner/cousin.

Big Jim-- You said "...and Neutron basically said they were all a bunch of pussies." - This guy has a history for being way off. Be glad he didn't say that you were tough, because then you probably would be a pussy. I'm always happy when someone who's point of view I have no respect for disagrees with me. It just further enforces that I am correct.
I know a guy that was a marine, and after he left the service he went to a wrestling training camp. He said that the wrestling camp was more brutal than the marine bootcamp.
People don't realize that wrestling is not fake, it is pre-determined. Wrestlers are part acrobat and part stuntman. If they screw up a move, someone can get seriously hurt.

As far as Crash goes, I thought he had a good run as hardcore champion. It is unfortunate that so many of these midcard performers seem to die after being cut from the big leauges. Louie Spicolli shared a similiar fate.

Stu Hart also recently passed on. They say that people die in threes. Stu, Hawk, and Crash.

Being A REAL Pro Athlete...

I'll challenge any pro wrestler ANYTIME at ANY location to any contest of their choosing.
They aren't athletes, they aren't tough, and they're a bunch of pussies. You won't see me crying there's not enough security at an event just because people are hurling insults at me (Kevin Nash and Scott Hall at Spring Break MTV)
Fucking overpaid shit for brains pussies

So far as the cause of death.

Try starting there. Hawk was also an alcoholic.

I believe Crash Holly was gonna be on the next N.W.A. pay-per-view that's on Wednesday nights. His new character was called Mean Mikey.

Drew

For the record, it was a rock, not an insult, that was hurled at them on the MTV Spring Break. It was humorous watching Kevin Nash run the guy down on the beach.
Another example of someone who doesn't realize how big these wrestlers are until they get up close.
Neutron-- You felt the need to capitalize the word "ANY" in your challenge. Any wrestler to any contest of their choosing.
You could defeat Kurt Angle in a Greco Roman wrestling match?

It's very easy for a nameless person on an internet chat to challenge all comers.
Where should these challengers reach you at?
Will you be emailing your challenge to the WWE corporate offices, or will we just wait for Brock Lesnar to log onto the TMF?
Hollow words preceed hollow deeds.

That was my point in the other thread too. It's also just as competitive as any other sport because the better someone does their job, the more likely it is that they'll be given a reign as champion. And they don't even need to screw a move up to get hurt; it can happen even when they do it correctly. Mind you, that is coming from someone whose most painful experience in the ring was getting chest chopped by a pair of bastards who thought his squealing like a girl was fucking hillarious.🙄

Stu gone too? Damn but that family truly are the Kennedies of wrestling. No damn luck.🙁 Stu was a giant and few have experienced the Dungeon without gaining huge respect for the man. I'm sure Owen was there to meet him.

I was hardly a "pro" but I'll challenge you any time and in any place you care to name Mike.

No-one will EVER beat me at a pie and hotdog eating contest. :dogpile: 😛

stu hart will be missed

stu hart-truly a great man

His dungeon at his home in calgary, spawned out several of my favorite wrestlers. Bret hart, Owen hart, the canadian crippler Chris benoit.

Ha, what a joke.

I'd love to see you challenge Kurt Angle or Brock Lesnar in a wrestling match.

Not all the deaths are due to substance abuse. Davey Boy Smith's was certainly, as I think was Brian Pillman's. I know there were a few others. Did Curt Hennig shoot himself or was that substance related? I can't remember. If Lazarus shows up then I'm sure he'll put me right if I got anything wrong.

Bob "Hardcore" Holly was the one who is returning at Survivor Series. Also on a side note, Michael Lockwood, who was Crash Holly , was also Skip of The BodyDonnas a few years back.

Curt Henning did not shoot himself, he ODed on drugs, I believe it was heroin. I think Brian Pillman ODed on pain killers.

I can't believe Crash Holly died. He seemed really young and he didn't look like someone who would abuse drugs. Christ wrestlers are dying left and right.

I've been reading Stone Cold Steve Austin's book, he mentions Brian Pillman's death. Although Pillman was known for being a drug and alcohol abuser, he died of a heart ailment that ran in his family. The drugs probably added to an already worse condition.

I remember hearing that cocaine is what did in Curt Henning.

Also Lance Storm and Chris Jericho were also trained by Stu Hart. If nobody knows how well loved the Hart Family was, consider this, they were as loved, if not more loved in Canada, as the Von Erichs were in Texas.
