WWE Wrestler Chris Benoit and family found dead

3.jpg

R.I.P Rabid Wolverine 🙁

Wow. I stopped following pro wrestling years ago, but I was always a huge Chris Benoit fan. RIP to a wrestling legend.

Snail Shell

What's really fucked up? Tonight was sapposed to be a "Tribute To Mr. McMahon" night for that bullshit storyline, then this happens...

R.I.P. Wild Pegasus.
R.I.P. Pegasus Kid.
R.I.P. Chris Benoit.

You and your amazing skill will be missed.

The cause of death hasn't been released, but I've been reading that people think it may be because of carbon-monoxide. Reportedly, the reason he went home yesterday and missed the PPV was because his wife and son were coughing up blood. The cause of death hasn't been officially released, although they've said they weren't shot to death.

I'm having a hard time watching the tribute right now... there are a couple of things that make this worse. First is that it wasn't just Benoit but his wife Nancy and his son Daniel were also found dead in the home. It's tough to deal with Superstars passing but when an entire family is killed that is vry hard to deal with.

The second thing, which is more pertinent to me and other Canadians... is that he was Canadian and that alone is a bitter pill to swallow. The death of Owen Hart was hard to take but I think losing Benoit is gonna be harder.

I'm too shocked for words...🙁 🙁

i am at a loss for words....

Chris Benoit? gone? his whole family? this is indeed a tragedy. He will truly be missed as not only was he a tremendous wrestler/performer, but he was a real good guy.

RIP Chris Benoit

The WWE website confirmed the worst:

http://www.wwe.com

"It has been ruled that the deaths of Chris Benoit, his wife Nancy and their son Daniel earlier today were the result of a double murder-suicide from within the home. WWE.com will have more as soon as it becomes available."

If Chris Beniot did the un-thinkable, may he forever rot in hell

Suicide?! I can't believe that! I heard from the tribute that they were all murdered from the outside.

Guerro, Benoit, Dean Melenco might be next.

Msnbc reported the officers found an 'instrument of murder' in the home, but would not say anything more

The police said specifically that they weren't looking for an assailant outside the home. For whatever reason, it seems it was Chris.

This is truly horrifying and for once vince mcmahon became a human being. WWE took off all the vince death gimmick stuff from the site and sultry, maybe you can show your child the raw today cuz vince is shown alive and well(unfortunately)

I remember seeing benoit the first time at clash of the champions when he destroyed brian pillman

Also, in the vid included is his now deceased wife, woman

Last night I didn't believe it when I heard it, but now the authorities are sure he killed his wife and son before killing himself yesterday.

Hate to say I told you so...........but.........

I won't hold my breath waiting for an apology for your initial smart-aleck comment to me either. Or for anyone else who was rude, beligerant, or insulting when I told the truth.

He was no more than a drug addict has-been who flipped out and killed his family. He even sedated them before killing them so they wouldn't put up a fight. Wrestling career or not, what he did was deplorable and I think he only killed himself to evade prosecution.

Also, my local news reported that he had 10 times the testeosterone levels in his blood. That doesn't sound like anything threaputic to me. :sowrong:

Anyone can see, you don't get to 230lbs at 5'9 with hardly any fat without steroids.

He took sterods, we just don't know what else he took. I've known quite a few men who took steroids, very few took just steroids.

hmmm Xanax and hydrocodone....can't see that being a good mix there. I don't fully buy into the whole "roid-rage" thing...i think it went deeper than that...but that's my opinion...all we know was what was in his system at the time...we don't know the motive and never will.

this is from msn:

DECATUR, Ga. - Pro wrestler Chris Benoit had a steroid and other drugs in his system when he killed his wife and young son last month and hanged himself in the family’s home, investigators said Tuesday.

Benoit’s body contained 10 times the normal level of testosterone, as well as amounts of the anti-anxiety drug Xanax and the painkiller hydrocodone, authorities said.

The testosterone, a synthetic version of the primary male sex hormone, is considered an anabolic steroid. The state’s top medical examiner said it appeared to have been injected shortly before Benoit died.

Dr. Kris Sperry said there was no evidence of any other steroids in the wrestler’s body, and nothing to show that steroids played a role in the death of Nancy and Daniel Benoit. He also said the boy appeared to have been sedated when he was asphyxiated, and Benoit’s wife had a “therapeutic” level of sedatives in her body.

Sperry said there is no consensus that the use of testosterone can contribute to paranoia, depression and violent outbursts known as “roid rage.”

“This a question that basically no one knows the answer to,” Sperry said. “There is conflicting scientific data as to whether or not testosterone creates mental disorders or leads to outbursts of rage,” he said. “There’s data that suggests it and other data that refute it.”

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation said Chris Benoit tested negative for alcohol. Investigators had been eager to determine whether alcohol was a factor in the killings after 10 empty beer cans were found in the home, as well as an empty wine bottle a few feet from where Benoit hanged himself.

Benoit killed his wife and 7-year-old son, placed Bibles next to their bodies and then hanged himself on the cable of a weight machine. After the slayings, prescription anabolic steroids were found in the family’s home, raising questions about whether the drugs played a role in the killings.

Benoit’s wife, Nancy, tested positive for Xanax, hydrocodone and the painkiller hydromorphone. Daniel Benoit had Xanax in his system, authorities said. The GBI said it could not perform tests for steroids or human growth hormones on the boy because of a lack of urine.

Nancy Benoit’s body had a blood-alcohol level of 0.184 percent, more than twice the level at which Georgia law considers a driver intoxicated. But, Sperry said, that level may have been affected by decomposition.

Federal authorities have charged Chris Benoit’s personal physician, Dr. Phil Astin, with improperly prescribing painkillers and other drugs to two patients other than Benoit. He has pleaded not guilty.

Investigators have also raided Astin’s office several times since the deaths, seizing prescription records and other documents.

Before he was charged, Astin told the AP he prescribed testosterone for Benoit, a longtime friend, in the past. He would not say what, if any, medications he prescribed when Benoit visited his office June 22, the day authorities believe Benoit killed his wife.

World Wrestling Entertainment last screened Benoit for steroids in April. It said the results released Tuesday were proof Benoit did not test positive for illegal substances.

“All it means is that scientifically, it’s now known that sometime between April 10 and when he died, he had treatment with testosterone,” said Jerry McDevitt, a WWE attorney. “That’s all it establishes.”

So sad..

This was a horrible situation. I spent many years in police work before getting out of it, and I've seen many many sad situations like this one. It's true, most drug addicts don't stick with one drug. That's true for alcohol, marijuana, heroin, etc. I don't care if it's steroids or weed, drugs are drugs, and should be avoided. I've seen so much of the sadness and trouble that they cause. It makes me very sad to see this kind of thing. Thus the main reason I"m no longer in police work. I realized finally that no matter what I did, the horrible stuff just kept happening, and if I didn't deal with it, then someone else would. It was just insanity after insanity. Sadly, this situation is all too common. You only know about this particular one because of the celebrity factor.

"Roid rage" is medically dubious, but even if it's real Benoit's actions weren't a sudden explosion of violent rage. It looks as though over a period of two days he sedated and strangled first his wife, then his son. Then on the third day he laid Bibles by their bodies and hanged himself.

These are the actions of a man caught in despair so deep I can't even imagine it. But they aren't the actions of a raging steroid-driven maniac. I'm not a bit surprised that a professional wrestler was using steroids, but I don't believe steroids led to this tragedy.

He had 10 (that's ten) times the theraputic dose of STEROIDS in his system. Whether or not it's the smoking gun, I certainly suspect it was a catalyst along with the anti depressants and other drugs in his system.

Here's the bottom line;

What difference does it really make-steroids, anti-depressants, whatever drugs were in his system? He killed his wife and son, then the miserable SOB killed himself! All the speculation in the world won't bring any of them back, will it?????

Nothing REASONable about a man committing homicide and suicide towards himself and his family. Steroids or not, they're still dead, aren't they??? :disgust:
